NBA 2008-09 Season

the heat are on top of the celts at halftime. is wade hurt or just resting?

Wade hyper-extended his elbow, so he's legitimately out.

Boston was without Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, however Rondo played.

Seemed like a close game. The Heat drafted well this year and they have quite the lineup even without D-Willy.

Thursday, March 19th NBA Schedule

For those needing a break from the Madness, TNT has an NBA double header tonight...

Golden State @ LA Lakers- 10:30pm. TNT

There's only one other game in the NBA tonight:

Dallas @ Atlanta- 7pm, Local Fox Sports Affiliate

yeah and it was entertaining. the celts did have those guys as you mentioned and pierce, davis and perkins so it was good. considering wade was out it was a close game even in ot.

Hang in there boys! Only the strong will survive. We've got over 3 months left (for those of us in the playoffs)!!!

the best basketball is on it's way!! love it! to me it's cleveland all the way in the east and to win it all..... ;) most probably will be lakers / cavs finals

Still a long way to go Rey for sure. I'm not counting my eggs before they hatch though. Still crossing my fingers as we'll have to make it through the gauntlet that is the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

I do agree with you that the Lakers are the team in the West. I don't see a team out West that can beat them.

BTW, a LeBron vs. Kobe Championship would be EPIC! I'm drooling at that scenario! ;) :D

yeah that would be an incredible series. i'm going to get ripped by some for this but.... it will be much better than last years finals.

Blazers @ Cavs: Recap

Cavs win 97-92 in OT. A few bulletin points....

  • Cavs are now 31-1 at home. With 9 games left, the Cavs are now seriously flirting with history. They have the opportunity to tie the best home court record in NBA history set by the 1985-86 Boston Celtics who were 40-1 at the Garden that year.

  • LeBron recorded his 7th triple double of the season (24th in career) with 26 pts, 11 reb, 10 ast. LBJ leads the league in Triple Doubles this year. He is the modern day Oscar Robertson.

  • The Cavs tied an NBA record last night. They had only 2 turnovers the entire game. (1 within regular regulation, which would've been the new record had the game not gone into overtime). During the final seconds of OT, Mo Williams was falling out of bounds and attempted a pass. It hit the backboard and went in the hands of a Trail Blazer. This was the team's 2nd turnover all night, which tied an NBA record set by the Bucks in 2006.

  • The Cavs extended their lead in the East by 4.5 game margin over the Celtics.

  • This was a very ugly game. The Cavs were a mere 4 for 21 in the first quarter. Smart basketball, defense, lack of turnovers and the ability to make plays and foul shots down the stretch saved this game for the Cavs.

If the Cav's clinch home court, just cancel the playoffs. Right now the championship is their's to lose.

Tim Legler Didn’t Earn His Paycheck Today

Legler “contributed” to the Daily Dime today with the prediction that the Cavs were going to get the top seed in the East. That makes me happy, but his reasoning is mis-informed. And it is this kind of thinking that we, as Cavs fans, have to attack mightily because all it does is harm Lebron James’ candidacy for the much-deserved MVP.

The Celtics, with all of their injuries, have no rhythm right now, and the Magic need to figure out a way to steadily feed Dwight Howard at crunch time.

Those are the two biggest reasons that neither Boston nor Orlando can catch Cleveland. Cleveland is 4.5 games in front of Boston and five games ahead of Orlando, and with the exception of Ben Wallace, the Cavaliers are the one team that is not dealing with injuries.
Wha wha whaaaat? Not dealing with injuries?

At this current moment the Cavs are down a starter in Ben Wallace. They are down a key $13.5 million reserve in Wally Szczerbiak. They just got Delonte back and he is battling through some tough injuries to his back and wrist. Sasha Pavlovic just got back from a high ankle sprain. Tarence Kinsey did too. On top of that, Boobie Gibson’s toe is still bothering him from the time he missed this season. Oh yeah, and don’t forget the fact that Z is playing through a broken nose and a dislocated finger.

So it really is just an ignorant statement at best. And yet Lebron James has kept this train rolling. No matter who has been there to help him out, he has pushed this team constantly. To say that the Cavs haven’t been dealing with injuries is a shot right at James and his MVP position, if you ask me.

It is bad enough that Lebron got snubbed last year because the Cavs didn’t win enough. At the time, I was willing to even buy the logic to some extent. As long as those were the rules, I could get it. Now this year people are talking about changing the “rules” because Dwyane Wade has had such a monster season? Now it just comes off like anti-Lebron sentiment, and I am going to type until my fingers fall off in defense of the most valuable member of any basketball team in the world, let alone the NBA. And yes, it might sound like homerism. But then again, it is only homerism if it isn’t true, right? I am looking squarely at you, you homers from Miami. And I am looking at you Tim Legler. If you can’t handle the NBA’s news cycle there are plenty of us out here waiting for an opportunity to take your job.

Any idea who is in the running for the #8 seed in the East?

This year, the Cavs' won't get their usual first-round punching bag (Wizards S-T-I-N-K). This year, someone else has to step up to the plate and get bludgeoned.

If the Playoffs started today, Chicago would be the #8 seed in the East.

I called it back before the season started.

I felt then, and obviously and even more so NOW, that this is the Cavs year!

You did Bill. You've always taken the Cavs seriously and I remember you predicting good things for the Cavs this season. :up

My fingers are still crossed though.

After all, it has been 45 years, or a combined 145 sports seasons since Cleveland last witnessed greatness.

Please, please Sports God's... Let this year be the one!!!!!
