MLB Trades and Rumors

HD: Don't look below:

2:17 p.m.: According to the FoxSports report, the Martinez deal is straight-up between the Red Sox and Indians with no third team is involved. The report also notes that the deal will "almost certainly end" the Red Sox's pursuit of Gonzalez, who is likely to remain in San Diego.

2:13 p.m.: A source confirms to FoxSports's Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal that the Sox are on the verge of acquiring Martinez. Still no word on what the Sox will be giving up.

Then why'd you come here? You KNOW he's a gonner anyway? Why punish yourself? Get Grady out of there, too....PLEASE!!!!

Because I love the torture. Those adult beverages are going to taste real smooth this evening as I try and drown my sorrows away...

PS. I just thought of something very disturbing....

What are the chances our 2 former ACE's square off against eachother in the World Series this year? Ie. Cliffy and Philly vs. Sabathia and the Yanks?! Talk about a shot in the groin! And I thought this year's AFC Championship was bad!!!! Holy F*! This would top it all for Cleveland fans!

Shapiro would blow his brains out if that happens this post season!!!!

If we don't get the Sox TOP prospect and then some, I'm going to FLIP!!!!

HD's not the only one mad at his team for trading their best players.

Look at what has happened to the A's- EVERY time a player plays well for them, they get traded for prospects and a bag of chips.

Zito, Mulder, Harden, Hudson, Tejada, Giambi, Huston Street, Frank Thomas, Nick Swisher, Milton Bradley, and now Holliday and Cabrera.

I am THROUGH with Billy Beane's methods of getting rid of good players for more prospects. HOW MANY MORE DAMN PROSPECTS DO WE NEED?!

I am fed up with this- if the A's are not going to commit themselves to winning- at least the Raiders are TRYING to win by KEEPING their better players- than something has to be done.

It seems like the A's are committed to selling and rebuilding all the time. Eventually, these prospects won't pan out- we won't get lucky like the Indians did with Grady Sizemore.

Oakland, please- FIRE BILLY BEANE AND HIRE A GENERAL MANAGER WHO WON'T SELL EVERYTHING AT THE SNAP OF A FINGER!!

The Red Sox are on the verge of acquiring catcher Victor Martinez from the Indians, according to a major-league source.

News of the deal first was reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

The deal is straight-up between the Red Sox and Indians. No third team is involved.

The Indians' exact return is not known, but the Red Sox did not include either right-hander Clay Buchholz nor right-hander Daniel Bard in the deal, according to a source.

The are saying that Martinez will backup Veritek. Why in the hell would you make a big trade to put a much much much much much better catcher as a backup behind a washed up catcher?

I think the negotiations between Shappy and Theo Epstein went something like this:

MS: So we’re willing to trade you guys Victor Martinez but the deal is going to have to include Buchholtz.

TE: Nope, can’t do that.

MS: Ok, so we’re still willing to trade you Victor Martinez but the deal is going to have to include Bard.

TE: Sorry Mark, no can do.

MS: Hmmm… allright, we’ll still trade you Victor, but you owe me a plate of chicken wings at the next GM’s meeting.

TE: Deal.

Latest rumor is that the Dodgers and Pads are working on a deal that would involve Adrian Gonzalez, Heath Bell, and James Loney.
