MLB Trade deadline/rumors thread

I agree with cjwct. What are they thinking about? Not withstanding the moves reported above in this thread, is there any other moves that there thinking about? We need a 5th starter, a longman in the pen and a left fielder. I know that's a lot but can WE GET ANYBODY? Make a move, please!!

Pudge to the Yankees? Where did THAT come from???

As I've mentioned before, you never hear what Dombrowski has planned.
No one heard anything about the Cabrera / Willis trade before it happened either.
He's one guy that knows how to keep his dealings under wraps.

Now that he sent Pudge away, unless he's got something cooking again and a lot at that, I think they have sent out the white flag, which seem awefuly odd seeing they are closer to first place now than any other time this year.

Buster Olney is saying that Manny is staying put and possibly traded after they pick up his option.

The Pudge-Farnsworth trade is "weird." Yankees could not lose bullpen help and did so for a catcher . . . just weird! On the other side, Inge is ready to be everyday catcher and it makes sense for Tigers who were lacking relief help.

No it does NOT make sense, Inge is NOT an every day catcher and doesn't even want to play catcher, he;s got several positions he is much better at.

I think the Tigers said what the hell, lets dump some vets, would not be surprised to see Shef gone soon to.

Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says the Red Sox, Pirates and Marlins have agreed to a three-team Manny Ramirez deal, pending Ramirez waiving his no-trade clause and league approval.

Carroll, not normally one of our preferred sources, has the Red Sox getting Jason Bay and John Grabow; the Marlins acquiring Ramirez, cash and a prospect from the Red Sox and the Pirates picking up Jeremy Hermida, two prospects from the Marlins and one from Boston. Jul. 30 - 9:52 pm et

Bill,

I wouldn't celebrate prematurely.

He could use that no-trade clause to veto the deal.

From by Buster Olney, ESPN:

As the Red Sox, Marlins and Pirates discuss a possible three-way deal for Manny Ramirez, the sides also are discussing lefty reliever John Grabow's moving from Pittsburgh to the Red Sox. The current sticking point, according to a well-placed source, is that the Marlins want the Red Sox to add a prospect to their take in the deal.

Bill,

you want another reliever, or are they fine in that department?

IF the Red Sox are picking up Manny's contract, the Marlins have quite a nerve. Granted they would be losing Hermida to the Pirates, but they would be getting Manny sans his contract AND a prospect from the Red Sox.

The Red Sox DEFINITELY need a reliever or TWO, but I don't know much about Grabow. Maybe Risnuff can shed some light on him.

Here's the latest. MLB.com says we're moving closer to the three-team deal. The Pirates could receive a minor leaguer from the Red Sox. Dejan Kovacevic says the Pirates would receive four or more prospects for Bay, as well as Hermida. John Grabow could end up in Boston or Florida. Perrotto says it could be expanded to have Jed Lowrie go to Pittsburgh and Jack Wilson to Boston. The Bucs also like Red Sox prospect Hunter Jones.

I like Jed Lowrie, but I wouldn't mind getting Jack Wilson either.

BTW if Manny gets dealt, is your 'strike' over, and does the 'enablers of abuse' on your sig go away?

Next to Patriots, in your sig, for a short while, it said 'Thugs and Drugs,' though they weren't dumb enough to keep the gun-toting Andrews.

You betcha!! :up And I can live with a third place finish if we get this piece of human waste off the team!!!

The Baltimore Orioles

Must be really tough to be a fan of the team.

I'm an Oakland fan, but Billy Beane and his 'trade our top players' strategy is pissing me off.

Given how Baltimore hasn't done much in about a decade, I'm amazed you've stayed a fan.

Most Orioles fans have severed their ties due to Mr. Angelos' boneheadedness.

Center Ice to be on Dish again this season.

Toughest players to ever play on your favorite team
