MLB 2013 Season

Royals-Red Sox game has been postponed, because Boston is in lockdown mode with scumbag #2 still at large.

Bill, I'll never know how those scumbags got through people and security and did what they did at the Boston Marathon. How did that happen?

As far as the games go, I think sports are needed as a relief, no doubt about it but I think its better to be safe than sorry and the law enforcement are needed to find the scumbag as opposed to playing a game. Agree with it, 1000%.

Oh there is more than just me who despises interleague ;)

And since the Twins have lost 2 games this week on account of bad weather (Sunday against the Mets and Wednesday against LAA) on the news and in the paper they were saying its harder to make up games due to teams outside the division only going to a city once now due to the new scheduling because of the oddball setup of the leagues.

But I'm sure you wouldn't mind if you had a day off in August after working 8 in a row only to have that taken away ;)

I don't really like interleague either. It takes away from the World Series in my opinion.

Count me as a NON Interleague fan as well ....

Then again, I spoke out when they first started talking about doing this, thought it was a DUMB idea then and it's actually worse now, seeing the rain/snow out dates are piling up .... I hope every team has a situation like this, maybe then Bud will THINK before he puts his mouth ion gear.

Hang in there Bill ...
As well as anyone else out there in the area.

Be safe ...

I doubt there is real security to a marathon when you just stand on the sidelines watching people go by.

A lot of teams really cant sell playing in April. I mean look how cold it was in Colorado and Minnesota.
This year is weird due to the winter we've had...I mean normally its suppose to be 60 in April here (Minny) and we got a foot of snow yesterday. This year is NOT normal

I think MLB has to do a better job of playing in your division the first month or so of the season because you if you have a game like the Mets/Twins postponed, how are you supposed to make it up?
so what happens in June when you get rained out? Same thing

Btw, who's bright idea was to build a stadium with no roof in Minnesota, anyways?
UGH! I really hate when people say that WHEN THEY DONT LIVE HERE!! We got a stadium and so what if it doesnt have a roof?
Look at Detroit....no roof
Look at Cleveland...no roof
New York build 3 new stadiums...no roofs on any of those

I'd rather deal with possible bad weather in April and September and sweat my ass off in June than sit in a friggin dome or worse an airplane hanger (like what old Bud got built in Milwaukee). The Twins have had 7 postponements in 3+ years so its not like we need a roof.

And the best part.....they can't put a roof on it due to the design.

Exactly! There is no way to keep thousands of people, spread out for miles, 100% safe from human fecal matter like the scumbag brothers. Unfortunately, events like the Boston Marathon are "soft" targets for terrorists because people come and go as they please.

Personally, I think all of these cold weather site should have a place with a retractable roof, mainly for rain days or days when games are played, say under 40*.

Sure would be helpful when your playing in the Playoffs and the game starts in 40* weather and drops from there.

Much like in Arizona I think it is, when its super hot, they close it, as long as Common Sense is used, I think a retractable dome is the way they all should go.

Provided they are all still playing on real grass.

WOW! Angels off to quite a start today vs the Tigers!!!!

I think the Tigers are simply going thru the motions today after every at bat in the 1st inning was a seeing eye hit worth what 10 runs ?
2 hard hit balls in the inning .... the other 8 were well, well placed well say ... and leave it at that.

Give credit to the Angels, they scored the runs .... had the teams been reversed, I would have looked at it as just "One of those games" ...

Fwiw, Porcello didn't pitch poorly at all ....

Actually, I am quite surprised the Angels have held on. I was predicting an epic collapse which would have fit in perfectly with the way their season had been going. FWIW, the Angels have sleep-walked thru 6 of the (so far) 7 innings played.

If I made that much money, no I wouldn't mind.

Red Sox starters have yet to allow more than three earned runs in a game. It’s the longest streak to start a season since the 1981 Oakland Athletics went 16 games. Sox starters are 8-2 with a 2.32 ERA.

Dempster ended the string today in the Red Sox sixteenth game of the season, giving up four runs in seven innings. A respectable outing - one that gives his team an even money chance of winning - but it ends the string of fifteen straight starts at the beginning of a season in which the starter gave up three or fewer earned runs. Time to start a new streak tonight, in the seperate admission make-up game.

Interesting rule I never heard of. Apparently, a team can expand its roster to 26 men when it is playing a double-header, so the Red Sox are calling up Allen Webster to pitch the second game tonight. If they had not done that, then they would have had to send a player down on Wednesday to make room for a spot starter that day, since Buchholtz would only have had three days rest by then.

The Dodgers go into Spring Training with 8 starters. One gets traded, two go on the DL, and one is held from starting and may go on the DL. Now they only have 4 starters. With that, their pitching is still doing well. It is their offense that is stinking it up big time.

Same issues in Detroit, plenty of Starting Pitching and the Offense can't score.
3 innings today with the bases loaded, only scored 1 run.

CJ Wilson has been in an absolute fog this season. He is not concentrating on his games. Mike was all over him in the dugout during his last start. The Angels may have won today, but CJ has to be consistently better and more focused if they are to go places.

Jimbo, we caught you at a bad time and you caught us coming home from a terrible road trip needing to heal quickly. I expect a much tougher battle next go round !

That's pitching for you. The Red Sox had the same situaton two or three years ago. They began the season with eight proven starters but by June, they were pitching someone named Tazawa.
