My thing with Michael Young is how he handled the last couple of position changes. Both times immediately he demanded the Rangers trade him. The last player that we had with an attitude like that was Mark Texiera when he played for us and publicly berated how bad the Rangers were. Before that A-Roid was doing the same before his trade.
Just heard an interview of Joe Nathan on MLB Radio. Nathan said that the most important thing the lost by losing Hamilton, Napoli, and Young was Young's club house presence. He said he had the best attitude of any player he has ever played with and had a more positive impact of a team than any player he has ever been around. I have heard sports writers/commentators, and other players say the same of Young. He was outspoken about the way ownership treated him and others, but that never interfered with how he played and his positive attitude towards the game and his team.

Josh Hamilton Career Stats By Ballpark

               Texas Anaheim
Batting average .315 .260
Slugging pct. .592 .440
AB per HR 15.5 30.0
That is always a little misleading because he will be facing different pitchers in that same ballpark. It may not be the ballpark as much as Angels pitching. How did Hamilton do against the Angels in Texas?

The Red Sox have apparently reached a 2Y/$26.5M dollar deal with Ryan Dempster, pending a physical...

How many minutes did it take for the Boston Red Sox talk-radio/blogger audience to come up with a nickname for Dempster. Think... Think...

On the Boston Herald website:

The Sox handed out $13 million-a-year deals to any platoon player or journeyman who knocked on their door, but they held the line on long-term contracts. So discipline means paying big money to a handful of mediocre players while assuring fans that these guys won’t be around for long.

There’s even a name for this strategy: Dempster Diving.

Here's the 2012 breakdown...a few less games in Anaheim, but does the average tell the tale??

Why the disparity? It's simple, reallly...he's banging hookers and 7-gram rocks all night with Charlie Sheen when he's out in Los Angeles. ;)

Sorry, but that's just rude all the way around.

He turned down the 2/25m offer for a 2/26m, must have thought about it and changed his mind.
They offered another million for some reason ...

Ok, that explains it then.

Must be for tax purposes? Anywho, something needs to be done in MLB to level out of the playing field as its getting out of control. The disparity between big market and small market is growing larger every off season its not even fair anymore.

IF Bud doesnt want to impose a player or team cap, then i suggest opening up the playoff format to include more teams. 12 to 16 team playoffs work well in the NBA, NHL and NHL. Cheers, K

Sad to see Hamilton go but I do wish the Rangers would have been more proactive on him. We now have a huge hole in offense with Napoli, Hamilton, and to a lesser extent the past 2 years anyway Young.

I just don't see the Rangers being viable in the AL West now.

Hearing lots of under-current mumbliings that the Rangers are very, very, VERY hot-to-trot for one Giancarlo Stanton!!! Whether that blockbuster deal will ever truly see the light remains to be seen. But they are supposedly really hurting for a big bat after losing Hamilton and the Rangers have their eyes on South Florida.

If we go by only those numbers, then it definitely is the ballpark more so than the pitching

When it comes to Loria, am sure he'd trade his own mother for a bag of dirty jock straps.... besides has he met a one sided/dump trade he never liked?

The guy makes Jerry Jones look like Mother Theresa

I couldnt believe that the Red Sox got Dempster. I wouldnt jump for this guy although maybe I'll be wrong. 13 million a year for Dempster. I think they overpaid a bit but thats just me.

WOW, Trout/Hammy/Trumbo is quite the outfield!!!

Maybe the Angels felt pressure to make a BIG move because of the buzz their cross town rivals have created??

I kind of figured that Hamilton wouldnt go to the Yankees or Red Sox. I dont think he could handle the pressure of a big city like NY or Boston. How big of a city is Anaheim, where the Angels play? Are the fans and media very critical of there team like NY and Boston are?

I believe they are more relaxed and laid back compared to Boston and New York :)

Loris knows he has a gold mine in Stanton and though is value current is at its highest...he also wants a king's random.
