YAY! I am soooo glad Stubbs is gone. He was such a bad hitter yet Baker would not sit him it was pissing off all the fans.

Dont say that, I am so sad to see Choo gone but I know he wasnt coming back anyways and it seems like we got a decent player in stubbs and a great prospect in pitching!

I'm glad Michael Young got traded. His attitude the past several years has SUCKED. So what if your team asks you to move to a different position; you're being overpaid to play a game!!

Perhaps if they moved him once or twice, but three times!? From what I have read, the Rangers never even consulted him about playing a different position. I'd be miffed, too. It's not like he's a marginal player. The guy is really good.

If it were once, I might agree with you.

Most of us have pride in our work and our jobs. Most MLB players are probably no different. I know I wouldn't like it if I were reassigned to a lateral position in the same company and a new employee took my old spot. Sure, it's great to still have a job, but there would still be hard feelings...

I thought he actually handled it well. A GG SS being moved to 2nd, then to 3rd, then to DH, and then to platoon all IF positions was asking a lot of a player. He did it and succeeded.

Not in Boston. They continue to boo A-Rod despite the fact that he wanted to go to Boston and was willing to give up some salary to do so.

The airwaves were going crazy back in the 03-04 offseason when A-Rod almost came here. He was NEVER liked here, and it has nothing to do with his Yankee affiliation (although that certainly didn't help ;)) Derek Jeter, OTOH, would be welcomed here with open arms. :)

There was a time when I was really hoping the Tigers would pick him up .... although Elvis would have been the better choice for them.

edit:
That said, in thier current position both teams are in, I doubt greatly that the teams would make a trade with one another.

My thing with Michael Young is how he handled the last couple of position changes. Both times immediately he demanded the Rangers trade him. The last player that we had with an attitude like that was Mark Texiera when he played for us and publicly berated how bad the Rangers were. Before that A-Roid was doing the same before his trade.

I don't know if I like this deal. Will some of you "outsiders" weigh in on what you think please?????

Free agent Josh Hamilton agreed Thursday to a contract with the Los Angeles Angels, a source with direct knowledge of the deal told ESPN Dallas talk show host Ben Rogers.Hamilton will receive a five-year contract for $25 million per season, the source said.
Hamilton's former team, the Texas Rangers, had been in negotiations to retain the 2010 MVP. Hamilton's camp had also reportedly met with the Mariners at the winter meetings.
Hamilton, 31, has batted .304 in his big-league career, all but 90 games of it in Texas. He has provided big power in the middle of the Rangers' lineup, helping the team to World Series appearances in 2010 and '11.Hamilton hit .285 with 43 homers and 128 RBIs in an inconsistent 2012 season that didn't finish well; a vision problem caused him to miss five games, he struggled offensively and he had an error in the AL West-deciding loss to Oakland.

Your team might have the best line up top to bottom, ever. Plus the Angels are both adding a player and taking him away from their closest division rival.

But I think it's a bit risky for that long and that much $$$ with his track record. Plus that means we'll probably lose Peter Burjos now. He is THE budding star on the Angels' horizon.

What does that possibly say about the Rangers ownership/management??

5 years for Hamilton, I would think that the years would be fine ...

Could have been 8-10 instead, that which I would have said was TOO long.

WOW, Trout/Hammy/Trumbo is quite the outfield!!!

Maybe the Angels felt pressure to make a BIG move because of the buzz their cross town rivals have created??
