WOW! Manny retires instead of letting baseball even come out with whatever he did.

Nice win for the Red Sox today over their fierce rivals. The Sox need to take two of three from the Yanks to get some momentum going.

On a side note: I only wish Sox fans gave Derek Jeter and Mo Rivera a warmer reception today (but I understand the rivalry :D). When they finally hang it up, I want to be present at Fenway for their last game there, and give them a standing O. They are two of the classiest (and winningest) players I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

It's nothing personal. It's just that Stinking Uniform.

Don't forget about Posada. I think I heard it on SportsCenter: Jeter/Rivera/Posada are the only three teammates in the four major sports to have played together on the same team for 17 seasons.

I have yet to see Fox use an electronic strike zone border today to evaluate any close pitches in the Red Sox/ Yankees game.

per ESPN: A-Rod scratched (illness) from tonight's game at Fenway. Eric Chavez will start at 3B.

What kind of a BS call was that?!!

I used to call that the Dewey Evans rule. They passed it in the mid to late 1980s because Big Dewey used to chase the second baseman out into center field. The rule on a takeout slide is now that some part of the baserunner's body from the knee up much touch the ground before he makes contact with the fielder, and the baserunner must be able to touch the destination bag if he continues along his path. But, no, I've never seen a baserunner who scored on such a play get sent back.

The first major league player to get called out for undertaking a Dewey Evans "rollung block" after it was prohibited was Rich Gedman. It was later learned that 29 of the 30 major league teams had held preseason meetings to apprise their players of several rule changes. Guess which one team didn't?

Indians are 7-2.

I know it's early, but for a change, they aren't stumbling out of the gate.

Believe, HD?

It's a long season. I still think they're overachieving and don't have the starting pitching to compete all year. We'll see though. Stranger things have happened. I'm certainly enjoying the ride though. It's been a fun opening week!

I agree and you should enjoy it. I mean San Diego came out of no where really with little to no hitting to compete well into September.

Hey Manny...the Hall of Fame just called to say...BUH-BYE!!!!!!!!!

You can go wait in line right behind Rafael Palmerio...
