The Marlins have made 0 playoff appearances since the trade- the Red Sox got players that sparked them to a World Series.

Yes, the Marlins have done well with the players they got, but they have yet to play in the postseason with Hanley/Johnson/Stanton.

The Red Sox were a playoff teams already when they got Becket and Lowell... the Marlins were where no where near that when they got Hanley.

If I'm starting a team tomorrow, I pick Joe Mauer, Hanley Ramirez or Felix Hernandez... Hanley is that big of a talent, and I HATED that the Sox had to include him in a trade. That being said, the Red Sox DON'T win the '07 World Series without EITHER Beckett or Lowell.

IMO, there was no winner in that trade.

They both got what they were looking for at the time. The Marlins wanted financial relief and good/great prospects and the Red Sox wanted/needed immediate impact players.

Masterson is turning out to be quite the former Red Sox Prospect too Bill. Thanks for him. While I miss V-Mart, Carlos Santana is filling his shoes nicely. :)

And the Mitchell report proves that opinion.

So you're saying the Mitchell report states that steroids does not help improve batting average? The Mitchell report speaks to the history and future of steroid use in baseball regarding rules and regulations. It does not comment on the medical benefits derived from the use of steroids.

Opinions are wonderful and everyone is entitled to them. When you try to pass them off as fact by making things up...goodness gracious. :facepalm

Do we really have to have this conversation every time a person of topic comes up that has been tied to PED's? Can't we just talk about baseball?

Unfortunately Manny made this news...not us. Nobody is saying you can't post about something on the field as well. Knock yourself out!

Ah yes, the usual spin. It was leaked who was caught in the initial testing for PEDs. If you go by the names leaked, and by the lack of lawsuits..as in NONE...those names were a given. Now IF steroids DOES improve your batting average, go look up the names and I will assure you that most are barely .280 hitters and close to half barely hit enough home runs to make a dent in their career averages.

That is not an opinion, those career stats are noted facts.

The Mitchell report does not comment on this. Period. It does not state how steroids help athletes succeed.

If you want to look at statistics, however, and draw your own conclusions, that is fantastic. I support your right to your opinion 100%. :up

She made a statement and I am responding. No one is arguing... What gets old TOO is the constant confusing one for another. As much as Sandra and I debate, we are passionate about sports and our sports opinions.

What is the use of a sports forum without healthy debate. Some should try it sometime other than the usual "yep", "your right" and my favorite, "I totally agree" followed by the proverbial thumbs up...

Don't know about other people but I don't really care about players who take steroids, it's their life.

Plus I agree with ramy, maybe you two should get your own thread to talk about the subject and anyone else that wants to talk about the subject can also while leaving this thread free of this topic. It's real easy to start a new thread, there is a button on the top of the page to help get you started.

this will be the last time I comment on this subject.

Nobody is saying you can't have a discussion or banter back and forth but with you two it goes way beyond that. It is always a back and forth "yes it is"....."no it isn't" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and.......................etc.................

If you don't like the fact that 99% of us don't want to see you two go at it, well then don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.
