Jed Lowrie is 3-3 with 4 RBIs today, batting .517 for the season as of now. When will Scutaro see the field again?? ;)

BREAKING NEWS: Carl Crawford just got a hit!!!
Yep, Francona better get with it and start Jed at SS . The kid can hit!

Hopefully, Dice-K has turned the corner. Either that, or he just took advantage of a tired team, at the end of a long 10-game road trip, we'll see...

Either way, as #5 starters go, Dice-K isn't all bad.
I hope you're right, but he was working on six days rest today. Dice-K historically is better on five or more days of rest, which is what he was used to in Japan.

Also, considering what he makes it kinda hard to think of him as a fifth starter... ;)

Excellent point...........that AND the posting fee.

After 18 days of baseball, the Cleveland Indians have the best record in the American League! Wow!

Oh, guess who's back as of yesterday after being sidelined on and off with injuries for the last 2 years? Grady Sizemore! All G-Size did in his debut was go 2 for 4 with a double and a homer. Can this club really be for real?!

Considering what the Rays did in 2008, anything is possible.

Baseball is where anything can happen.

The REAL reason Dice K pitched so well today is because it's actually Prime Time in Japan, 11 am here ....
They should schedule ALL his games for morning !

Ugh! The Reds lose 3 of 4 to the Pirates.:rant::mad::mad:

I wouldn't be surprised if Dice K makes more himself than all 5 of the Indians starters.

If Lackey pitches well tomorrow, it means they've got five aces!

Lackey? Pitch well?? Bite your tongue! :D

J Lackey 6.0 4 1 1 1 3 0 93-59

Ace!:D

What is the combined ERA for the last six starts by Beckett, Lester, Lackey and Dice-K? About 1. something?

Last year, the Red Sox started the season with some of its heralded starting pitchers injured, and by the time they got well, Ellsbury, Pedroia and Youkilis were all losing substantial portions of their seasons due to injury.

The biggest difference between last year and this year isn't the quality of personel. They have the same starting five and spot starter, and the same closer and primary set-up man. Their offense has replaced the outputs of Beltre, Martinez and Cameron with Gonzales, Saltalamacchia and Crawford, which is a wash. The difference, for now, is that they are all starting the season healthy. That is good for their long run prospects but it is sobering to note that now that all of their cylinders are clicking, they have become just a .500 team over their last ten games.

BINGO!!! This is exactly what I was saying to a couple of buddies of mine. Forget the 0-6 start, that stuff happens. It's what's happened since that has me alarmed!

How in hell can this team be in last place?

Ninth inning, Sox leading 5-1. Papelbon gives up a single, then hits a batter, then gives up a run scoring single. He allows three base runners and leaves the tying run on first.

Time to recycle my, "Papelbon is a blown save waiting to happen" posts.

Wow!!

Baseball commissioner Bud Selig told Frank McCourt on Wednesday he will appoint a trustee to oversee all aspects of the business and the day-to-day operations of the club. At the same time, Frank McCourt was preparing to sue MLB, a baseball executive familiar with the situation told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because McCourt had not made any statements.

Sox starters are 4-0 with a 1.15 ERA in their last turn of the rotation. The current run marks the first time since 1947 that a Red Sox team has had five straight starts of at least five innings and no more than one run allowed in the same season.

Starting to jell: Sox beat A's, 5-3
