A couple of IR questions about the Hopper's IR.

First, where is the IR Receiver located at? My usual trick of a flashlight against the front panel isn't working. I don't see the IR receiver anywhere behind the right panel or the bottom panel.

Second, is there a way to program multiple "addresses", so that hopper 1 responds as device 1, and hopper 2 responds as device 2?

Thanks,

Maybe you have a better eye than I do, but you might want to try looking at the internal photos from the hopper's (XIP 813) FCC filing and see if you can kinda figure it out from looking at the PCB. I'm not 100% certain of where it is. https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1520676

And as far as multiple addresses, I don't think so. I haven't seen a menu for that.

I get a "Your not authorized to access this page" when I try your link.

I set my Revue's IR emitter down in front of the center of the front panel, and it works fine there.
I just have my Revue sitting on top of the Hopper just like I did on the 922, works fine no external emitter needed.

I think the problem is with my harmony remote setup.

I was using a 922 as the model, but they now have the hopper as a valid device.

Gonna change the device and try again.

I'm running the revue as a discrete device and using an ir repeater for control.
I used to run my Revue that way, too. I didn't like the way it screwed with the audio in its HDMI output. But, I have since setup my Harmony to select optical input for the TV/Sat audio input on my AVR. And, I run it in line now.

I don't use the Revue very often to control the Dish DVR. But, I just wanted to point out that placing an emitter in front of the center of the Hopper works fine. And, the same applies for the Revue I use with the Joey. Front and center.

I've got the kind that tapes on directly over the receiver, not the one that sits on the shelf in front. But I have plenty of stickies, so I'll get it figures out!

Thanks n0qcu

Thanks for the help guys... In the end, for whatever reason it ended up that the IR input was disabled on that particular hopper. FYI, the Harmony programming for the VIP922 is a better model than the Hopper's via the configuration tool.

So next, is how do you get 2 hoppers to distinguish on IR. There used to be a method to configure between various remote addresses, but there does not seem to be such an option with the Hopper. Of course the intent is to use the Zigbee RF remote but that doesn't work for all situations. My use of the 2nd hopper in the HT will be minimal (not zero) so it isn't as big a problem to use both remotes for that hopper.

Regards,
