Hopper Great, But

Borrow another Dish user's remote. Worst case grab a 20.0 remote off ebay, easily found for less than $10 shipped.

I think you missed the point. Your learned remote matched your 722 but could have been any address 1 to 16 (maybe 1 to 32 with extra work) but the Hopper and Joey will only accept address 1.

That makes it simple for Harmony users, then.

I remember having to change addresses when I first set up my Harmony One to operate my side-by-side 622 and 722. They're both being replaced with a single Hopper next Saturday. I've already added the Hopper to my Harmony Profile, but I will wait until Saturday to actually download it to my remote. I figured I'd have to do something with the remote address, but based on what you said, it should work right off.

I have the Harmony One (not the 900) so I do not have hard color buttons. It was nice to notice the soft color buttons are available in the Harmony database.

Which Harmony? And does it have the colored button functions? WAF and MiL greatly prefer a single remote.

We have the 880. It's old but works well for what we do. It does not have color buttons. The cradle charger hasn't worked for several years but I was able to buy an extra battery and wall battery charger from amazon for fairly cheap.

That would work if I still had the old remotes. They went back with all the other "Dish Stuff" when I left Dish in June.

In most case they "don't want" the remotes back. They may be grimy or worn off or have dead batteries, etc. Refurbishing probably cost more than new. So unless it says explicitly to return them, keep them for the batteries, at least.

No. They will request the remotes now anyway. I had two new H remotes but DIRT advised I did not need to return them when i sent back two Joeys. Had no problem not returning the remotes with the Joeys.

One of my Hoppers is controlled by a 880. I loaded the Hopper commands with it and have colored buttons in the screen. Works fine.

They did. "Please return the 722K, the two remotes, and the devices at the end of the dish in the box we will provide." They did not get my OTA module or my sling adapter. Hummmm, I wonder if anyone could use those?........

A little birdie told me, not once has Dish ever charged for unreturned remotes. They can't do much with them anyway, not like they can give used remotes out.

As for the LNB, just tell them it's on the roof and you can't safely get to it.

Oh, well.....That was back in June. The dish is really in the front yard. I wonder why they asked for mine. Maybe that little birdie told them I use a universal remote and the dish remotes were in mint condition.:)

I gave that option a shot. Found one on ebay for $10 and change, including shipping. Came today, set it for channel 1, pointed it at the Hopper and the Hopper hopped all over the place. Remote works fine. Used it to set up my TSU7000 "all in one" remote. Runs Hopper great.
Since I have the TV in the bedroom working, I took the RF remote in there and will use the programmable in the home theater. Really do not use bedroom TV enough to pay for a Joey.
So.....all is well and the Hopper is hopping very well......:)
