Hopper Go Date

Scott: using DishAnywhere transferring programming from Hopper to my cell phone SOMETIMES is a COPY, sometimes is a TRANSFER, can you enlighten us as to under what conditions it is a COPY and when a TRANSFER such as if the condition is dependent on which channel?

I'm wondering if the programs are COPIED or TRANSFERRED to the HopperGo. When I use the "prepare for mobile" feature of the Hopper and transfer programming to my cell phone sometimes it's a TRANSFER (with no way to transfer it back to Hopper as far as I can see) and sometimes it's a COPY. Them being transferred is certainly less convenient than them being copied because I may or may not end up watching them on my phone and in that case want to be able to watch them on the Hopper.
Since it hooks up to the H3 directly i'd ASSUME shows can get transfered back. I draw that conclusion because that's how an EHD works.

Some channels allow the show to be copied to up to 3 devices. I am not sure what channels those are though.
I've searched the internet for references to this topic - info from Dish as well as other tech sources. Nowhere (that I can find, anyway) is there any distinction made between "copies" and "transfers" Only that "one transfer per recording is allowed". (paraphrase). When I got my original HWS, it was largely for this feature and I took what I had read to mean that when I "copied" a recording, I was moving it, and that it was a "one way trip". As it turned out, I can probably count the number of times I've used this function on both hands and I've never found a recording to be "left behind" (on the Hopper). Right now, I have a copy of any given program on my Hopper - I can watch it there, or watch it remotely via DA. This is just one more option. If having more viewing options were that important to me, I'm assuming that I could use the new "GO" at home as well as on-the-road, or maybe record the program again (if available.) For those who are really concerned about how this works (or doesn't work) maybe this is a question best posed to our DIRT techs?

They probably won't know the answer either. Programming rights are changing almost daily.

But as it gets closer to release they should know if it allows playback of content on HopperGo when connected to the Hopper and generally what the limitations of what you can do with it.

xfoneguy: I've most definitely had programming COPIED to my cell phone vs. TRANSFERRED. I always know what will happen because when it is a TRANSFER a message pops up informing me it is a TRANSFER and asks if I want to proceed. When that message doesn't pop up it COPIES the program to my cell phone leaving the original copy on my Hopper.
