Spent the last two days with DTV support, I’ve been getting connection lost to the server for two months on my c61k client, I have to reboot the stupid thing each time to get it to work again.

We checking all the wiring, we factory reset the main receiver but the stupid thing still goes down.

I am about to throw this stupid receiver out the window.

None of the support folks can figure this S*t out.

Did they not offer a replacement? I get this now and again with the wireless minis but I've never had it happen with two C61Ks and I'm going on two years with them.

You should know better. What are you really expecting support people in a office to figure out a random issue miles away. Just tell them the thing is dead and get a replacement

Spoke to DTV again this morning and they finally agreed to send me a replacement...
They have to charge me $21 for shipping, they said it’s a leased receiver and they have to charge me for replacement unless I chose to pay $9 for their monthly protection plan.

It’s a wiring issue. Make sure you don’t have any drops that are not properly terminated.

I’d understand if it was a wiring issue if it happened while watching tv, but this only happens when starting the receiver.

That actually makes it seem more like a wiring issue.

Low signal, and it’s taking a few minutes to initially lock on to a signal.

I would check your splitter and follow every line coming off it.

You got something on the network causing an issue.

I had a customer in a huge house ask me to fire up 15 outlets in his house so he could move the minis around from room to room.

Only way I could get it to work was only connecting the rooms he needed.

Now it’s gonna be a pita to get directv to show up and check the wiring from the satellite.
I’ll check the signals.

Here are the signal levels:

Signals levels are ok. 99/103 could be peaked but I doubt that is your issue. I wouldn’t go nuts until you get the replacement box

It's not a wiring issue.... I've talked to engineers from directv and it's a firmware issue.... They still are back logged patching a ton of other stuff....... Nobody on the front line support will tell you... You have to coax one of the ISS guys to tell you about it.

Sorry about the late follow up post, been busy traveling and also been dealing with some health issues.

Anyways got the replacement genie and haven’t had any issues with the server connection, also noticed the tv startup is a lot quicker for channels to come up, it’s not the fastest but it’s 10x better than before.

I am about to sign up.

I for sure want all wired minis.

QUESTION: are the 4K minis really that much better? they will only install them if you have a 4K tv in place but I could borrow or go out and buy a cheap one real quick to get them.

I need Two minis

What model number should I get on the work order for a good MINI (is see there are 4 different ones if you count the 4K)

Ideas?

You can't choose the model of your client, even if you get them to put it in the work order they won't honor it. They consider all wired HD clients the same, all wireless clients the same, the only one you can "choose" is the C61K because there is only one model of 4K client.
