Dish Software Problems Inexcusable

darrencp22,

I'm down the road from you in Sanborn. We may not have gotten the L446 software as I don't have it yet. (and now, of course, don't want it... hehehe)

So don't let it ruin your vacation.

I am on grand island and I got the update on my brand new 722 (was installed just the week prior), and the update lost WGRZ audio on my OTA. So be patient the update should wipe out your ota soon enough.

Gee... thanks! hehehe.
WGRZ is one of those that (for reasons I don't understand) sometimes has their audio on a different "channel". Sorry... I don't know the technical workings of what I believe is SAP . When I had my antenna connected DIRECTLY to my TV and flipped through channels, WGRZ would often come in with no sound. I would have to toggle SAP (at least I THINK it was SAP I was toggling... when I go home I'll try to remember to take a look) and sound would be there. Now when I switched channels, sound would be gone again until I toggled SAP.

Sound familiar anyone? No sound... fiddle/reset/change-something, get sound working, change channels and no sound again

I'm still wondering if these issues are related.

Islandguy43 - can you toggle SAP settings on your TV with OTA WGRZ and see if it makes a difference?

I suppose that even if they ARE related, if the satellite receiver is "losing" that other audio channel information, then this may all be moot, but this sure sounds like what I was seeing here when I was directly connecting my antenna to my TV.

I've had this issue with OTA with my 722 on and off since L446 was downloaded. My 622 still has L445 and has NOT had a problem. Trust me, when the audio decides not to work NO amount of toggling, audio settings, reboots, cussing, etc., etc. will give you sound. IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM, namely L446!

Amen!

Spelling incompetent "incompitent" is incompetent.

I have been with Dish 7 or 8 months and have had to replace a 622, due to a bad software update. To Dish's credit, they were very prompt to overnight me a replacement and I was up and running in no time. The only downside was that I lost all my DVR'd programs. Talk about furious.

Wait until you get home from vacation and see if you are victim of this software problem before you get your panties in a wad. I have a 622 and nothing went wrong with anything on this software update. You are crying fowl and you aren't home to see if you have a problem yet.

My advice, just cool it!

Spelling foul (contrary to the rules or established usages,) as fowl (any bird ) is also incompetent. ;) The gentleman was trying to make a point; let him be. Try understanding instead of berating people. :D

The newer dvr's don't give you the option, and I thought they were removed from the 5xx series a few software versions ago.

Naaah... I have both a 501 and a 510 here..Yes it's old school but we don't do a lot of recording. Anyway, both receivers have this option...

re-initialize hard drive of 921

Dish n' it up rebate form question?
