Thank you, Nelson61 and KylL416. I just noticed the FCC filing
SAT-MOD-20240607-00126, and found that you have already discovered it. This was unexpected, I was looking for a filing to dispose of D9s to a graveyard orbit. DirecTV thinks they can keep D9S in an inclined orbit at 101 until May 31 2028. As Kyle said, It will only serve as a backup to D16 to provide guide data and software download capabilities, and only for portions of the day, due to its inclined orbit. which conserves fuel. They would have to rearrange their current methods to distribute that metadata over the D9S spotbeams, since according to the data they filed with the FCC, D9S has no National Ku beams.
The whole DIRECTV satellite infrastructure depends on metadata transmitted from 101. I can't conceive of a way that current STBs could function withiout Ku band DSS modulated transponders at 101.
