There's a massive worldwide IT outage because of a bad update from Crowdstrike's security software causing BSODs on many enterprise installations of Windows that's also affecting broadcasters around the world.

Seattle's KING was just passing the raw NBC West coast feed and isn't broadcasting their morning news. A lot of Weigel's OTA stations are just broadcasting null packets right now, including their NYC and Nashville MeTV stations, while the MeTV Toons affiliate in Philly is showing dead air. Earlier a bunch of the Viacom stations were out, and most of their music video stations had test patterns from their previous branding (I also included shots of the ones not carried by DTV), while MTV's Pluto streams that use the same music video playout system were frozen. Sky News and CBBC were off air in the UK, it took out Talpa's visualradio in the Netherlands, ABC Triple J in Australia had to go back to using CDs to play music and their news channel couldn't playback video reports or use their usual on screen graphics.

A bunch of ESPN's systems are still down, so ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN Deportes are simulcasting ESPN Radio's morning show, while ESPNEWS is simulcasting ACCN.

Word is the Olympic broadcasting and IT operations were affected too in Paris, so luckily this didn't happen next week where it would have been hours before the opening ceremonies.

Luckily Sky Sports UK wasn't affected so they were able to have ESPN2 breakaway and simulcast their F1 practice coverage.

question, what is the "UDP" column on the TPN map? it has what appears to be IP addresses, but when I tried typing one of them into Chrome on my laptop, I got an error message.
ex. FSPHD/621-1 has a "UDP" of 239.193.1.104

UDP (User Datagram Prorcol) is one of many internet protocols. HTTP, HTTPS, POP, RIP, and may others are other Internet protocols (IP). UDP Is used for straming data without checking for successful packet reception. The Addresses in the UDP fields of the APG all have addresses assigned to multicast addresses. These are for point to multipoint broadcasting, unlike most IP communication where each packet has a source IP address and a destination IP address. Addresses beginning with an octet of 239 are reserved for multipoint bradcasts within a private domain, and are not routable over the public internet. So if DirecTV is getting interactive content or video streams from these addresses, it must be going through a proxy server within your home. The only place that can be running is within the Genie server. All video and data streaming between the Genie and its clients also use UDP with 239.x.x.x addresses.

Typing those addresses into your browser is useless because it will try to establlish an HTTP protocal connection to that address.

I an not sure that those multicast addresses are correctly labelled "UDP". That may be an assumption that we made and expressed to the guy who writes the APG binary decoding software. They are definitely IP multicast adrresses. But DirecTV could be using its own DIRECTV specific propietary protocol. That's something I should take a look at this coming winter. There are more interesting things to do now.

The Paris Extra channels are now streaming on the NBC app and website if you want to see what's currently airing on them, but they won't have programming until Saturday:

Paris Extra 1 - A team sports-focused channel featuring events such as basketball, handball, water polo, field hockey, and more.

Paris Extra 2 - A combat and racket sport-focused channel featuring events such as judo, taekwondo, badminton, table tennis, and more.

They switched to the Coverage Begins on Saturday slate yesterday, but for the past 2 months while testing they were showing various things like a Peacock loop, Golf Channel, Syfy, and Oxygen so providers could test their bandwidth allocation. DIRECTV is repurposing CINEHD 148 and 153 which are on transponders that only have 5 CINEHD channels. Locally Blue Ridge put them on a QAM mux where the only other content is their EAS feed and Community Bulletin Board.

Even though the opening ceremony is Friday, the actual competition begins tomorrow on USA, Universo, Telemundo and 105 LIVE4K. WWE Raw and NXT will be moving to Syfy for the next two weeks as USA will be showing non-stop Olympic coverage and replays

As far as Xfinity, only X1 boxes and the Xfinity Stream App has the Paris Extra feeds as channels 1351/1352

And now would be a good time for DTV to hide UVSO 410 an SD Duplicate of UVSOHD in the guide
