Ok it's time for another SatelliteGuys DIRECTV Rumor Alert... (Again this is JUST a rumor!)

While DIRECTV is not "officially" at CES this year again... I am hearing a strong rumor that DIRECTV will be announcing a new device at CES which will allow DIRECTV customers to search for shows movies and VOD content by using their voice. Yes folks I am hearing that Voice Search could soon be coming to DIRECT. I am hearing this new technology will be powered by Veveo, which is considered by many to be like Apple's Siri on Steroids.

So soon you might be sitting at your TV and yell at your receivers "Find me a John Wayne Movie" and it just might actually help you find one.

If you know any more details about this new system PLEASE post them here, or better yet email them to tips at satelliteguys dot us. It should be noted that all tips sent to us via email or PM are anonymous. We even reward members for GOOD tips! :)
combine this with the Verizon Patent and u have one scary scenario

Personally, I don't see much need for this type of thing.

Like mentioned before, people yelling at the recvr will change the channel ...
Wont work in a busy household.

Also, what happens if you happen to have the recvr in a Entertainment center, doors, not gonna be able to comprehend the requests ...

No need to yell all the way to the receiver.. you can speak in to a "remote".. and probably no reason you couldn't have 2-3 of them around, paired to each receiver.

someone will do this.. it will partly solve the "10-foot" problem for keyboards, surfing, etc.

ie. would be bloody nice to get to Pandora by saying "Pandora", instead of 10 clicks thru the sluggish HR34 menus.

well until the DVR can read our minds (and we can "think" our commands to it) :) I think voice is the next best thing :)

of course then it'll really keep switching to pron channels :)

I absolutely love being able to pause and play games and movies by voice when using the 360. The bing searches have gotten a lot better to. For me it is a great feature. Never used a DTV box but searching on Dish's system sucks. Direct is getting hooked up tomorrow!

Congrats and enjoy it :)

A better idea would be a sling type technology for watching Directv outside the house.

Scott, you're the guy that usually has all the Directv and Dish information, and you know that Directv, nor anyone that knows anything can comment on this, plus you're the one thats testing the HR44, so why are you asking us?

I'd much rather have an 8 tuner HMC than voice commands.

And you know this how?
