2011 Big Ten Football

Ohio State claims that these uniforms will honor the 1961 team, making these 50th Anniversary kits. “Honoring the Past and Driving Toward the Future” is their slogan to go with the uniforms that will be donned as the team faces the Wisconsin Badgers on October 29.

Now that I can see them, NOPE, don't like any of them ...

Michigan fans help save man's life

A Notre Dame fan who had a heart attack during last weekend's game at Michigan survived to watch the final touchdowns from a hospital bed, the school said Thursday.

Leo Staudacher's heart stopped during the second quarter of Saturday night's game at Michigan Stadium, the school said. The 69-year-old Bay City man survived thanks in part to one bystander who performed CPR and others who called for a medical team who used an automated electric defibrillator on site.

"My family watched while they shocked me with the paddles," Staudacher, who was visiting Ann Arbor with his sons ages 45, 48 and 50, said in a statement released by the school. "But it was the fans and their prompt CPR that saved my life."

Just a couple points:

- First, nice to see the man survive his heart attack and is doing well. :)
- Should a man who just suffered a heart attack be watching the ending of that "heart attack" fourth-quarter?

When my dad had his double bypass surgery he made the nurses bring him a TV so he could watch the steelers. My mom didn't think that was such a good idea since he gets emotional during the games but he made it.

Once you wake up, why not ?

Right now I don't who to pick in the Spartans vs Irish game...I can see MSU winning this one, but I can't see ND losing this one. I am also undecided about ASU @ Illinois...on one hand ASU is playing well and are the 22st ranked team after beating #21 Missouri - on the other hand the Illini are 2-0, are playing at home, and are a better team than people are giving them credit for.

If the Irish come our "mad" for losing to Michigan (a game they should have won) last week then they're going to win. However, if they come out with thier heads handing a bit low after going 0-2 then the Spartans win. Hmmm. Okay, Michigan State is going to win this game. The Illini will put up a good fight but in the end ASU will win the battle.

Early Games:
Eastern Michigan 3 Michigan 31
Penn State 14 Temple 10
Pittsburgh 27 Iowa 31
Southeast Missouri State 0 Purdue 59

Games Notes (by Riff):

- Michigan's offense looked like a bunch of misfits. Eventually the coaching staff will just let Robinson do what he does best...spread it out and run it. If the Wolverine's defense were a bucket - it would have a number of leaks. At least the holes are only slow leaks this year. They are long-way from getting back to playing Michigan football.

- Penn State escaped with a win! Temple outplayed them most of the game and should have won their first gama against Penn State since 1941. Of course, they showed why they are Temple when the game was on-the-line in the 4th quarter.

- Iowa pulls off a stunning late-second (literally...with 1-second on the clock) win over Pittsburgh. In fact they were getting arses handed to them through 3-quarters before waking-up and scoring 21-points in the 4th quarter. I was pleasantly surprised to see them come back on this one.

I think were two seasons away from traditional Michigan football as new recruits will be more of a hoke system. After last weeks game from denard Robinson I just try to enjoy the ride or else I get a ulcer from his up and down play!

Late Games:

Miami (Ohio) 23 Minnesota 29
Michigan State 13 Notre Dame 31
Northwestern 14 Army 21
South Carolina State 21 Indiana 38
Washington 38 Nebraska 51
Wisconsin 49 Northern Illinois 7

Game Notes (by Riff):

- Nebraska struggled against a mediocre Washington team. Of course, maybe they're better than I thought...but I don't think so. I recorded the game but I only saw a few bits 'n pieces so I really can't comment (yet) but from the parts I saw, and the final score, it looks like they have some work to do on defense. Someone mentioned they officiating was horrible...perhaps they can tell us why.

- You know...I would not bet money on any Minnesota game this year. This team plays up/down to the level of their competition. Personally, I can't make heads or tails of them from one week to the next.

- Michigan State struggled and were beat soundly. I thought the Irish would come out like a deer in headlights after being shocked the past two weekends, but they took the action to the Spartans and the Spartans didn't have an answer. Michigan should handle MSU this year.

- I can't believe Northwestern lost to Army. I didn't see the game but the Wildcats have looked above average in their two prior games.

- Wisconsin is the cream-of-the-crop in the Big Ten so far this year.

The Buckeyes are strugging against Miami (FL) this evening and are tailing 14-3 at halftime. Of course, I don't think the Buckeyes are going to roll-over in the 2nd half. Anyway, are both teams at full strength this weekend? I haven't been paying attention.

Its not halftime yet and the score is 14-6

What ?

It's 14-6 and not halftime ....

Wonder if the Buckeye recvrs can get a pair of hands at the half ... would be a different game if they could CATCH ANYTHING ...
D has FINALLY started playing.

If OSU could figure out how to get the ball in the end zone, it would be a different game. They are running on the Canes really well.

The 'Canes defense is bending not breaking. Buckeyes huge offensive line is taking advantage of Miami's speed by running right up the gut.
