2011 AL Central Thread

Even though they aren't playing well, I don't think you'll see the Twins quit. Struggle, yes, but not quit.

A night at the ballpark, even when your team isn't playing well, is still a good thing!

I agree! I actually meant the say the Twins are "now" playing for pride and not "not" playing for pride.

I don't want Harmon Killebrew to haunt my dreams. :)

I think Maggs was at 16 last year and took 10 this year, I don't see him coming back for 5 next year, but it would be nice.
I would think 7-8 would be what he may agree on, IF they offer him anything.

Verlander's contract goes up each year over the next 4 I think.
Yes, I think we'll be paying Boesch for awhile !

You've got to swallow your pride when you reach age 38 and you're a step-slower than when you were in your prime. Plus, when you retire from baseball at age 40 what the heck do you do with the rest of your life until age 60? In almost all cases you're not going to make 5M per year. I doubt anyone else is going to pay him more than 5M on a year-to-year contract. I supposed he could retired after this year but then what? I think both parties would be happy if they could settle on a 2-year, 12M deal. We shall see.

Welcome to Motown! Though I am sure his brother filled him in!

So, any one have a Scouting report on Young ?

I remember when Young came up with Tampa Bay several years ago, he was considered the second coming!

He is VERY fast, has an absolute CANNON for an arm and has always had great power potential.

Just found out that Tigers picked him up...............solid pick-up!!

Cool, thanks !

We had good luck with his Daddy (Dimitri), lets hope the same with Son :)

Turned on the radio two pitches before #600! Class response by the Tiger faithful (one reason why, even if I don't root for the Tigers, I don't root against them).

My opinion on Young: slightly above average speed, decent bat but not a lot of power, great arm, average defensive skills.

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
