2011 AL Central Thread

I had kind of hoped that Thome might get 600 when I go to the Yankee game Friday, but I'm glad he's accomplished the deed already. Maybe he'll hit #603 on Friday.

I had mixed feelings on him possibly doing it in Cleveland. There's still a lot of mixed emotion on how he left here. Not quite sure of the reception he would've gotten, although, I'm confident the majority would've been positive.

Turned on the radio two pitches before #600! Class response by the Tiger faithful (one reason why, even if I don't root for the Tigers, I don't root against them).

My opinion on Young: slightly above average speed, decent bat but not a lot of power, great arm, average defensive skills.

I have a similar feeling towards the Twins. Even though they have edged us out the last few years to take the division I don't have hatred for them like I do for Chicago. That 12 inning loss for game 163 was a heart breaker though.

So, I guess Boesch goes back to Right Field.

I see raburn is back to his usual defenseless player ..... thanks that error just cost us a run.

Tie game.

I remember him being a thorn in the Detroit's side last year. He is an upgrade both offensively and defensively over Mags. We really didn't have to give up much to get him either. I think he will work out very well for us and the lineup is going to be pretty tough when we got Boesch back out there.

Boesch is back in there tonight, playing RF and hitting 2nd !

It's an absolute pleasure watching Verlander throw; he does it so effortlessly and he only gets better in the middle innings.

Like most Great pitchers, ya gotta get them EARLY ....
Twins had thier chance, now he's shutting them down for the most part.

Last I looked, he'd given up 3 hits, I believe 2 were in the first inning.

Others that I have enjoyed watching this year : Victor Martinez and Alex Avilla.
Avilla has matured greatly, it is NIGHT and DAY the difference from last year his first and this year. He's confident and hitting well (remember, he couldn't hit his weight last year with Laird joining him) Very happy to see him break out this year.

Martinez, well, what can you say .... he's a Professional all the way !

Absolutely! His hitting is a night and day difference than last year; he is hitting for average and getting all the timely hits and RBI. Last year is I can honest say that I cringed whenever I saw either Avilla or Laird in the lineup...it was like trying to pick between who was going to suck the least that evening. What a turn-a-round year!

Oh, you mean like Inge and Raburn THIS year !

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
