Al Alburquerque carted off field

Fulll Story

Detroit Tigers reliever Al Alburquerque suffered a concussion Friday after being struck in the head by a line drive during batting practice.

The accident happened before the Tigers faced the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

Alburquerque was walking in left field while the Orioles were in the cage. Robert Andino hit a ball that struck the pitcher, who immediately dropped to the grass, kicking his legs in pain.

Yeah! We outhit the O's 15-8 but barely escaped with the win -we left too many on base. Regardless, a win is a win and I'm happy! We should get a lot of confidence feasting on the O's weak pitching staff this series.

I don't care if they win by 1 or 10, as long as they win.
Btw, it's good confidence builder winning 1 run games ....
You'll have to be able to do that to win in the playoffs, if you get there.

Interesting Tiger Stat...

...they have won their last seven (7) 1-run games.

Anyway, the Tigers' Scherzer (11-7) takes Baltimore's Gutherie (5-15) this evening. Both pitchers have almost identical ERAs so the Os haven't been putting any runs on the boards for Gutherie this season. The season series in tied-up at 2-2 going into this evening's game.

Also, Al Alburquerque was placed on the 7-Day DL.

Go Tigers!

Wow! Baltimore's Guthrie was crusing with 2-outs in the 6th before given up 5-runs to the Tigers. We're up 6-5 starting the 7th and Scherzer has been solid after giving up 5five runs in the 2nd. Hopefully we can get a couple more runs.

Yep, he actually threw a couple good innings the past couple days. But I'm not fooled....as soon I think he may do well he inevitably gives up a big inning.

Actually, (I'm hoping) when he was in the pen last year he pitched very good, hopefully he's starting to get the pen MoJo back, that starting adventure probably messed him up real BAD.

I wasn't so sure they were going to come back after falling behind GS style in the 2nd inning, but they hung in there and had thier own BIG inning.

I could have sworn that they had 2 runs on the board and then the GS and the score on the TV said they had 6 runs, then it went back to 5, not sure what that was all about.

They just mentioned that the Tigers scored thier 5 runs in the 6th with 2 out.

Tigers have not swept a series of more than two games this year. Fortunately, they get an opportunity to tee-off on Orioles pitching this afternoon. I'm look forward to see them score early and often.

They swept the Wh Sox back in April.
They have had 4 game win streaks, but it was thru 2 different series.
They took 3 out of 4 from the yankees.
They had a 7 game win streak earlier, 3 from Toronto, 2 from the Twins and 2 from KC.
They swept the Twins in late May (3).

They can't seem to lose out a series , if it's a 4 games.
They have swept several in 2 wins and a third being rained out. Not really a sweep, but they one thier games played in the series.

That said, doesn't look good for today though.

Oops! I ommited the word "road" in my sentence. Regardless, the Tigers and getting pounded this afternoon so I'm out to run some errands and take care of some chores.

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
