Steelers RB coach Kirby Wilson was burned in a house fire this morning, not life threatening but still not good.

System or not you still have to execute it, and against an NFL caliber defense no matter how bad the team you are playing is.

Look at Tebow play, they put in a new system to play to his strength(s) and he can't get the ball to his WRs either due to being inaccurate with his throws or not being able to make his reads and never seeing a wide open receiver.

Every team has a system, it's up to the players to execute it with as few mistakes as possible. Flynn also threw an INT, lost a fumble, and was sacked 3 times... blame the system for those too or player gets credit for the bad stuff, system gets credit for anything positive?

I don't credit a 'system' for his success, I'd suggest that it is because of the talented team he's surrounded with and the continuity and familiarity with the offense with this being his 4th year with the Packers.

yes of course you have to execute it. that's true. so i would say that in some cases its a combination of both. good system and good execution. you could have a great system but you won't get far without the right players to execute it. then there are those other cases where you pull a player out of one system and doesn't workout in another.

I think that was a product of the system.

A big part of any 'system' is how well the QB plays...the Jets are a perfect example. Over the last three years when he plays well, it's a great system. When he plays crappy, the system sucks.

Same for Michael Vick. When he's running and throwing all over the place it's a great system. When he's turning the ball over left and right...no more great system.

And it's been the same 'system' for both.

Same thing with the Colts. For 9 years, the Colts have had the best offensive system in the league. But the system was a bad system this year. :(

Oh boy. Here come the posts about how the whole problem with Indianapolis this year is the defense. :(

so? let others speak. does every one have to agree with your opinions? i don't think so

by the way we're really getting off topic here. most of this belongs in the regular NFL thread. this one is about the 2012 draft :)

Brian Dabol the offensive coordinator for the Dolphins ran the same "system" the Patriots do(as he did in Cleveland under Crennel and Mangini), so did McDaniels in Denver and St. Louis. How'd that look without Brady? Awesome, aint?

I know you said about this belonging in the NFL thread, but sometimes you(I) get sick of hearing the same nonsensical crap about the 2008 Patriots without Brady.

Let me tell you that dabol did a good job this season with Miami. I was satisfied with what I saw. probably won't be back next season. I'm gonna go ahead and move the posts to the regular nfl thread so you guys can continue this discussion there.

I've been watching Matt Flynn since his NC days at LSU. He's a very skilled and smart player, reads defenses well and has a fairly strong and accurate arm. He did more with the talent around him in college than Jamarcus Russell ever could, so I'm not surprised at all at what he's doing with the talent that's around him at Green Bay. If he gets the chance to start for a team that's committed to placing the best athletes in key positions, he'll do as much or more with that opportunity than most will.

Two things here. One, even though Peyton Manning was out all year, there are other offensive players on the team besides Manning. Im not saying they should've gone 14-2 w/o Manning but they had more talented players besides Manning.

Second, I was pretty impressed with Matt Flynn. Those are some awesome stats. If someone does sign Flynn, will he suffer from the "Rob Johnson Debacle". If you remember, he had one good game against the Jags back in, I think, '97 and got a huge contract from the Bills and it never panned out. I also think there was a qb controversery between him and Doug Flutie.

I think it depends on Who Flynn would sign with, are we sure that he's going anywhere ?

As far as that goes, he's hardly alone, theres been plenty of QB's that moved on from thier back up job that struggled/flopped as a full time starter.

There nobody more popular than the BACK UP QB.
