In the end, fan involvement decides the closer votes, and is why players like Tebow who finished 3rd overall in fan voting didn't make the initial cut because of the votes of coaches and his peers.
Till the Starters remove themselves and are replaced by others..
Good reason to just hand out awards or have a Pro Bowl announcement gathering.LOL a lof of the starters don't go anyway. It's more about the recognition of your peers and coaches.

Exactly. But we've been saying that for years. I guess the nfl still makes good money off of the probowlGood reason to just hand out awards or have a Pro Bowl announcement gathering.
I think they do not go because there is no meaning to the game AND though they barely play at 50%, they do not wanna get hurt. Also, they make NO MONEY out of going to the Pro Bowl unless it is written in the contract for bonuses.
Why go if you might get hurt, may not get paid and it will not affect your chances to make the post season.
That the Lions lost to the Packers 31-21 at Lambeau Field to become the 1st team to finish 0-16 in the NFL. 3 years later, they're going to Lambeau Field again, but this time things are completely different. The Lions have now made it to the playoffs for the 1st time in 12 years. I'm sure nobody at the time had thought this team was going to turn things around this fast. I know I didn't. I'd like to say congrats to the Lions for their success so far this season. The next step now is to get to the super bowl and I think they have a good shot, but it's definitely not going to be easy. But, I'll be rooting for them all the way.
Players are paid to play in the pro bowl.

its always been like that from what i remember. gotta give them a reason to go lol....As part of the CBA or incentives in their contract?
See, you learn something new every day. Thanks!
I thought that the league was requiring them to show up for the Pro Bowl, even fining players without a legitimate excuse not showing up?

First-round quarterbacks no longer sit on the bench for a couple of years. There’s a much better chance that the Colts get rid of Manning than pass on Luck.
Enter the Jets.
Ryan idolizes Manning and holds him in higher regard than he does Tom Brady. GM Mike Tannenbaum is extremely aggressive. And Manning, who will turn 36 in March, will surely want his next stop to be with a Super Bowl contender. The Jets are much closer to winning it all than the Redskins, Seahawks, Dolphins, Browns, Chiefs, Broncos or Cardinals, who could all also use a quarterback upgrade.
Another factor: Tom Moore, who was Manning’s offensive coordinator and mentor for almost his entire time with the Colts, has been a Jets offensive consultant this season. His presence could be a big selling point for Manning.
We know what you are asking yourself: so can Manning-to-the-Jets really happen?
Yes.

Rivers' stats, particularly in the first half of the season, were awful. They've gotten better as his offensive line has finally recovered from many injuries. If the Chargers had Denver's OL, they'd win the division easliy. Not saying Tebow should have gone, but Rivers sure as hell should not have gone. He has sucked this year!
