Woohoo - congrats to Dan Orlovsky getting his first win as a starter. Donald Brown looked pretty good, too :)

He won't rank very high because he can't throw the ball very good, the love affair that the media and fans have for him is the reason he is playing.

LOL yeah he's only playing because the fans and media happen to like the guy. Has nothing to do with his 6-2 record. Jeesh.

i'd say that yes he's popularity did put some pressure to get him out on the field. but then again since he was drafted in the first round you still have to give him a fair shot as a starter no matter how popular the guy may be in denver

True. But no matter how he got onto the field, the fact that the team is 6-2 as a starter is what's keeping him on the field.

Yet Elway and Fox didn't want him to play but the fans and media put pressure on them to start him, granted he has won games but I'm still not convinced he is a good QB for the pros. He keeps running like he is someone is going to hit him hard and give him a concussion.

I agree with everything you said up until the last sentence. Tebow does not avoid hits at all.

Where did I say he avoids hits?????

correct

i'm with you except on the part that he avoids contact. this guy since college loves contact. just my opinion from what i've seen. :)

Which if he keeps doing he will get a concussion or a broken bone.

OK, now I see what you're saying. I thought you meant he's trying to avoid a concussion, but you're saying with the way he runs, because he DOESN'T try to avoid contact he's susceptible to being hit

That is true.

But I just think that's the way Tebow plays...it's in his DNA. Anyone who carries the ball is putting himself out there to be hit and injured, regardless of the position he plays. Darren McFadden, Adrian Peterson, the list goes on and on.

Time will tell with Tebow.

Sandra

Reminds me of how "one dimensional & 'boring'" O.J. Simpson(before he murdered his wife) was when he carried the ball 100% during the year he ran over 2000 yards,& they didn't use the Wildcat back then either. Back then, the good teams ran(ball control) & the bad teams threw the ball.

Back then, MOST teams didn't throw unless they were behind.

Tim Tebow is a good football player, just not a very good QB. The offense he runs is almost gimmick-based, like the Wildcat was. The Wildcat was very successful at first, but since defenses have figured it out, it's only used sparingly now.

Long term, how do you build your offense around a guy with his skill set?? Can you attract FA offensive skillset players with Tebow at QB?? Brandon Lloyd's trade went down when Tebow was named the starter. He expressed his desire to play in a more pass-oriented offense. It could be a coincidence I guess...

Does his backup have to be the same type of player??

Phil Simms said that he thought that Tebow was purposely overthrowing most of his passes to keep the Patriots from getting an interception.

Ya, I thought that was comical ... overthrowing and under throwing for that reason .... If he would throw it TO his player, he'd catch it.

If Tebow was THAT accurate that he could under throw intentionally, then we would be having this discussion about his throwing.

Not "because he DOESN'T try to avoid contact he's susceptible to being hit" but that because he doesn't pass well and he has to run like he does in order to win, over time this will cause injuries. Yeah it's the way he plays and that's the problem, he is young he doesn't feel it now but he will. Look at Vick he always gets hurt. The running QB doesn't work well in the NFL.

It should be, or they have to run an entirely different offense if Tebow goes down.

Do they have one at the moment ... if the Raiders are not gonna need Pryor, he could back up Tebow.

The media loves to make excuses for this guy it's sickening.

And Vick is an entirely different type of QB than Tebow.

The question about the backup QB is a very good one.

The rest...I don't know. Before this season I would agree with everything you said. Now that I've seen Tebow have success, I'm not convinced either way at the moment.

I never even thought he could be 6-2 with that kind of attack. But he is. Going forward...we shall see.
