2010 NCAA Football Season

Considering the players are completely different after 4/5 years, I wouldn't go past that to consider power teams.
Hell, Auburn positively reeked a couple years ago, now look at them.

That is what I mean, ancient history may be interesting, but that is about all it is, interesting. :D

Somehow, I think that the same old conferences (and teams that are in there now; SWC -> BIG12, etc.) still are the relevant conferences when it comes to the top teams and meaningful schedules. USC has been the only exception to the rule in the recent past, otherwise, the SEC, BIG10, BIG12, and ACC (Miami) have been the rules since the 80s. Now that the pay-scale at USC has been rumored to be cut, I don't look for them to repeat. :D

During Miami's heyday, they never had anything about a 3 star recruit. Look at Notre Dame....they made the top 25 in recruiting the last 10 years...9 out of ten with 4 classes being top ten...and they have been mediocre AT BEST. Yeah, it's nice headlines landing the big name recruits...more times than not....they are flash in the pan.

Amen!!!! A marginal coach (Fat Charlie) can drag a team's talent down and a good one (Dr Lou) can take marginal talent and make them into a powerhouse. So-called "recruiting class ratings" are overrated and are only good to get the fans all hyped up.

One of the best Miami teams that I remember was when they took a team of basically nobodies and were the national champs. Yes, the kids played hard, but I have to give the coaching staff a lot of credit for it, as well.

Will be going through S Bend next week and will be looking for ND (and Michigan) flags at half-staff and upside down to see if the fans are any happier than last year. hehehe :D

You don't want to start pulling out stats, do you?

Michigan 22/11 national championships (2 numbers depending on whose list you go by)

and just for giggles, by conference

2-BIG10- 40 (Michigan-11, Minnesota-6, Ohio State-7, Illinois-4 ,Michigan State-4, Penn State-4, Iowa-1

Not to mention that many of those championships were in different conferences, 3 of Ga Tech's 4 were in the SEC. Penn St.'s were as an independent, several of Miami's were in the Big East, Pitts's were independent, etc...

Besides, most of those earlier "championships" were awarded by organizations that no longer exists.
As it stands, none of those schools have an NCAA National Championship, because it doesn't exist in Div 1A.

Nevada and Fresno State are leaving the WAC and joining the MWC. Its being rumored that they will be replaced by the perennial powerhouses Texas State and UT-San Antonio.

WAC football: Deal reached with Fresno State and Nevada | College Hotline

Looks like BSu will be hanging in there in the WAC (playing in a even less competitive conference), while Nevada and SJSU are not? Lets see, Nevada and Fresno State will play more decent teams like TCU every year, but BSu cannot manage anything like that, but will continue to bellyache about being looked upon as second or third rate "power?" Interesting.........

Jimbo, two of the games will be played in East Lansing and only one of them in Boise.

They will play the season opener Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at Spartan Stadium, then resume the series Sept. 17, 2022, in Boise, Idaho, and Sept. 16, 2023, in East Lansing.

Funny thing is that two of the games are over 10 years out.

Boise State is guaranteed $1.2 million for the first game

I still can't believe that they will get paid 1.2 million to travel to play the Spartans. I say that if they want to be a big time program play the teams without getting paid like the small schools do.

I don't care about this match-up. However, I just wanted to say the Spitoonies deserve a coach like Rich Rodriguez. What in blue-blazes ever prompted Michigan leadership to hire this bozo (no offense to Bozo the Clown)? Here is my summary of the University's Board of Directors meeting back then:

AD Martin: "I think our football program has been too successful the past 40+ years. We need to find a coach who can stink-up the Big House...so bad people will refer to it as the $#*! House. We need a coach who can rip-apart the solid foundation on which the Michigan football program was built, and rebuild it on sacks-of-manure. We need a coach who will fill the playbook with gimicks and trickery, and ignore teaching players the fundamentals of how we have played the game the past 130+ years. We need a coach who will refuse to play Defense...because it is boring and we would rather lose 56-38 than win 28-10. We need a coach the players, fans, alumni and alumnae, and the University cannot respect. We need Rich Rodriguez!" :eureka:

BOD: "We fully agree...you are a genius AD Martin."

In case everyone didn't already know...former Athletic Director Bill Martin and soon-to-be former Head Coach Rich Rodriguez are not on my Christmas Card list. :)

Tonight's the Night...

As much as I bleed Maize & Blue and would love to see the team win every game, Rich Rodriguez is 100% gone if he loses in prime-time tonight (ESPN) on the road at Penn State. Michigan should win this game against a battered Penn State defense and a walk-on quarterback making his first start. However, thanks to Michigan's "feather soft" defense coupled with the fact Rich Rod is 4-15 against Big Ten opponents during his dishonorable tenure at Michigan, Penn State and Joe Pa stand an excellent chance of winning this one.

We shall see...

Boise State is going to the Mountain West next year. A year BEFORE those two.

The U in deep trouble...Jacory Harris knocked out and down to their 4th QB....and down 17-0 with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter....

From my Vibrant using Tapatalk.....
Jacory Harris took a brutal hit in the game against VA and their backup quarterbacks have been terrible. Unless Virginia were to throw 3 interceptions for touchdowns, I can't see the Miami scoring any points with Harris out of the game. I just hope he can return next week.

5th interception by The Us QBs leads to TD..... VA 24-0 lead in the 4th quarter....
