ENOUGH ALREADY WITH THE MICHIGAN STUFF!
Just remember this Michigan.. Who has 2 championships this last decade? Who has a handful of conference titles, and some BCS bowls this decade? Not you!
Alabama doesn't seem to have a problem with big games to start the season.
Who did they start out playing this year? If your going back to last year that's fine, VT scored more points against Bama than any other team that year that they played for the then National Champs which was ok with me, VT played very very good against them. It could have gone the other way with just one or two mistakes. But look at this year, Bama played a weak team so did many others which gave them time to prepare for bigger teams to play. I just get tired of it, as a fan I was really pissed about the BSU move, not only did I have to take off work for 2 days but I missed out on alot of local Labor day stuff just to make it to this game. They should have left it alone but $$ talked and BS walked!
Exhibit B: Vanderbilt and their ... entire football program.See exhibit A: LSU and their pathetic offense.
They started with San Jose St., but played Penn St. (traditionally a top team) the very next week.Who did they start out playing this year?
You're just pissed they lost. We all remember how excited you were about going to the game.as a fan I was really pissed about the BSU move, not only did I have to take off work for 2 days but I missed out on alot of local Labor day stuff just to make it to this game. Don't I remember Ohio State playing Texas and USC in opening games recently? Even starting the season with a "creampuff" doesn't always pan out. Ask Michigan, who lost to Appalachian St., but ended the season beating Florida (again) in the Orange Bowl.
VT did ok against bama, but the game was never in question, and it should have been a blowout. Total yards, Bama 498. Va Tech 155. They did good that it was not a total blowout.

Yep, still pissed but ohh well, more pissed about the loss the following week. It was a very good game though so I can't complain much cept for the fact that not only were tickets about 90$ then another 80$ for hotel, plus gas, plus food, plus losing on 2 days pay... yeah it really pushed up there... would have been better left on the Saturday in October they originally had it on.
Nothing compared to the money Georgia fans pay driving down to Jacksonville every year to routinely lose to Florida.Yep, still pissed but ohh well, more pissed about the loss the following week. Or the price for the Bama/Auburn game this year. Seats around the 30 are going for $800.
When I went to the Iron Bowl in 06 tickets in the end zone were $500 a pop.
No face value is not that high, I am not sure the printed price, but no matter what it is, you can not get them for that. The waiting list to get season tickets from the university is around 15,000 deep now, if not more. How much at face value, though?
If that much, it's ridiculous!
You don't want to start pulling out stats, do you?

Considering the players are completely different after 4/5 years, I wouldn't go past that to consider power teams.Care to do a recap on those numbers in the modern era? Since 1980, 1990, 2000?
Here's an article from Birmingham News writer Doug Segrest.
Sometimes numbers lie: Recruiting doesn't always pan out as expected

If you're a college football recruiting junkie, you know not only the 40-yard dash time of your team's No. 1 target, but his height, weight and girlfriend's college destination.
You're not alone. Football recruiting gets rabid interest. Which leads to this annual question: What would the BCS Top 10 look like if each and every blue-chipper lived up to the hype?
We did the figuring for you, taking Rivals. com's top 50 recruiting classes for the past five seasons and averaging them out.
Some of the winners on the recruiting trail are winners on the field, but there are some major programs (Boise State, anyone?) that always come out of nowhere:
> Top 10 recruiting classes during the past five years -- 1. USC; 2. Florida; 3. Ala bama; 4. LSU; 5. Texas; 6. Georgia; 7. Okla homa; 8. Florida State; 9. Notre Dame; 10. Ohio State.
> How the current BCS Top 10 falls in the same recruiting rankings -- 1. Auburn (11th in recruiting); 2. Oregon (22nd); 3. Boise State (not ranked); 4. TCU (59th); 5. Michigan State (33rd); 6. Missouri (32nd); 7. Alabama (third); 8. Utah (tied for 52nd); 9. Oklahoma (seventh); 10. Wisconsin (42nd).
> Remember these guys? -- Three perennial recruiting heavyweights have fallen and can't get up. At least not this year.
Despite the No. 1 crop of recruiting classes, USC is no better than 5-2 going into a national game with visiting Oregon on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Florida (ranked second in re cruiting) just endured a three-game losing streak and Texas (No. 5 in recruiting) lost back-to-back home games for the first time since 1997.
> Just another reason why Mark Richt's seat stays hot -- It's not just the off-the-field carousel of problems or the four-game losing streak this year that has Georgia fans upset.
Based on recruiting alone, Georgia should be an elite team. In fact, the past four recruiting classes were all ranked in Rivals' Top 10.
> What do Kentucky and Utah have in common? -- They both spread you out on offense and they have identical recruiting class averages. Kentucky and Utah are tied for 52nd. Would Utah fare better than Ken tucky playing an SEC schedule?
> It must be the Smurf Turf -- Once again, Boise is in the BCS conversation despite not having a single recruiting class ranked in the top 50 during the past five years.
This may be the best evidence that you can't buy everything you read about recruiting. Despite the less-than-stellar classes, Boise has had eight players selected in the NFL Draft in six seasons, including a pair of first-round picks.
> Cheers, cheers for old Notre Dame -- Like Charlie Weis before him, Brian Kelly has awakened the echoes on the recruiting trails. Notre Dame ranks ninth among recruiting classes, a success that hasn't paid off in the standings for the rookie coach yet.
> How the SEC West should look based on recruiting rankings alone -- 1. Alabama (third in recruiting), 2. LSU (fourth), 3. Auburn (11th), 4. Ole Miss (18th), 5. Arkansas (29th), 6, Mississippi State (37th).
> How the SEC East should look based on recruiting rankings alone -- 1. Florida (second), 2. Georgia (sixth), 3. Tennessee (14th), 4. South Carolina (15th), 5. Kentucky (tied for 52nd), 6. Vanderbilt (not ranked).
> Conferences with the most top-10 recruiting class averages -- 1. SEC (four), 2. Big 12 (two), 3. ACC, Big Ten, Pac-10 and independents (one each).
Top 25 recruiting classes, based on average annual Rivals.com rankings:
1. USC
2. Florida
3. Alabama
4. LSU
5. Texas
6. Georgia
7. Oklahoma
8. FSU
9. Notre Dame
10. Ohio State

13. Miami
14. Tennessee
15. South Carolina
16. UCLA
17. Clemson
18. Ole Miss

Well, I will just say this Auburn is #1 right now because of a Florida recruit. Also, Florida has put a lot of talent in the NFL over the last few seasons. They are also playing 45% Freshman and Sophomores this year, so we'll see if the rest of the season and in to next year if the players can live up to the hype.
