2010 NCAA Football Season

I am all for preseason rankings. Gives us something to talk about. Creates hype, deserved or not.

Thats about ALL it does.

Exactly..it really serves no purpose at all cept it drives costs of things such as games, tickets etc..

Ohh and on another note: Might be one hell of a rainy Labor Day game... Hurricane Earl is set to slide right up towards DC Saturday....not good for fans, but VT knows how to play in the rain, just ask Miami from last year's monsoon game!

Alabama's Ingram to miss opener with knee injury - College Football - Rivals.com

Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram will miss No. 1 Alabama's season opener against San Jose State after injuring his left knee during practice.

He was hurt Monday and coach Nick Saban said in a statement the star tailback had an arthroscopic procedure Tuesday. The coach says Ingram should make a full recovery in a "relatively short time."

"Mark will definitely be out for this week's game against San Jose State and we will manage this on a week to week basis beyond this week," Saban said.

San Jose State went 2-10 last season, but the Crimson Tide face a much stiffer test in the second week of the season. No. 19 Penn State visits Tuscaloosa on Sept. 11.

Sucks that he is out, but from what I have read so far, it does not seem to be that serious, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

That said, some of the comments I have read at some places, and heard in person are sickening. Some losers are actually happy about this. I have seen a war eagle or two, a go tigers here or there, and some just expressing joy about it. WTF is up with that?

A kid, a good kid by most accounts, was hurt. What is there to be happy about in that?

No matter the team, there is no way I would be happy if one of the players was injured.

Disgusting and a total lack of class.

Masoli denied for this year. Ole Miss will appeal. LOL

Masoli denied, Ole Miss appeals | Ole Miss sports

O
le Miss appealed an NCAA waiver decision Tuesday that would restrict Jeremiah Masoli from playing football for the Rebels until 2011.

The Ole Miss appeal of the NCAA staff's decision will now be reviewed by an NCAA subcommittee. A response could be expected as early as Friday but no later than one week

The enclosed article said Saban said it happened on Monday and he had surgery on Tuesday ( TODAY ?). or last week ?
Normally, when you have a knee issue they will not do any surgery of any kind till swelling goes down entirely, this must have been a very minor issue to start with if they were able to do surgery today.
I know, NO surgery is good surgery, but this one must have been minor.

I think they were more or less checking a minor problem, if they found anything they fixed it. As you said, it must have been minor.

How is it that Mosselli can transfer from a Div 1 to a Div 1 team and not have to sit out a year ?

It had something to do with him transferring to a school that did or did not offer the field that he was majoring in. I am not totally sure, as I did not keep up with it. I will try to find out.

I do not think that is the problem with the NCAA clearing him though, but again, I am not too sure.

With Ingram out, that leaves the field wide open for someone to beat them and I'm pulling for Penn St.

Does anyone have a ESPN Insider account? Can you PM me a copy and paste of this article if you do? Thanks!

I doubt he will be out that long, and even if, that backfield is stacked. Not just saying that as a fan. Richardson is a beast. Freshman numbers that equaled Ingram as a freshman, with Ingram starting. While I do not buy the saying that Richardson is even better than Ingram, people do not just say that for no reason. He is capable of doing his job until.
Then the third string is Eddie Lacey. A highly touted recruit. There is talent beyond even him.

Not saying a total loss of Ingram would not be a blow. He is one of the hearts of the offense, but he shouldnt be out that long. They will be fine IMO

Its talked as if he will be out till the Arkansas game... and I still think Penn St beats them either way.

Off-Topic.. Anyone here from around the DC area? I need of a great place to Tailgate near FedEx Field since their lame ass lots won't be opened till 4pm.... I'm going up around 9am and want to tailgate with a bunch of friends and other fans for the whole day.
