Before the 12 games now that they have to play, they were allowed to play an extra game every so many years. I think every other year.
So this was in a prior year, I thought they were talking about Last year.

Because, they were supposed to play Ga Tech in 2004, but paid a penalty to them to postpone the game in order to play Louisiana Tech instead. How does this happen when all teams have to play the same amount of games ?

That's how they lightened to load.
Wasn't that often. It occurred more like every 5-6 years. Was when Labor Day happened to occur on the 1st or 2nd, which led to an extra Saturday between Labor Day and December. Before the 12 games now that they have to play, they were allowed to play an extra game every so many years. different subject. Someone criticized Tennessee for trying to bail on a tough game, in order to make their schedule easier, and that Tennessee shouldn't be in the SEC if they do that.Once again, I thought we were talking about last year.
Back then there was not a mandate on how many games you played.

I pointed out that other SEC teams are guilty of the same thing. Hence the point of my post.
How so? He was not the starter as far as I know (granted he could still have seen some playing time). I can see them hurting more from this the next year or so though.
Time to trim the SEC to eleven teams. Tennessee is trying to back out of a game with North Carolina that is scheduled for 2011-2012. Man up Vols and play the game.
North Carolina's home-and-home football series with Tennessee could be called off - Campus Rivalry: College Football & Basketball News, Recruiting, Game Picks, and More - USATODAY.com
That's why we always try to schedule Vandy, you get bonus points for beating an SEC team that doesn't field Div-II talent levels.Double benefit you can crow about beating a BCS School that doesn't field BCS talent levels.
As both a UT fan and alumni sadly Iagree with this take, on the ducking part anyway.
Hamilton and Dooley should be taken to the woodshed for this nonsense.
Easiest remedy though would be to forget about the Sun Belt and schedule Big East Patsies.

Not yet.
Time to start rooting for that team right up 1-71 North?
Oh, and I forgot, we play you guys soon enough. Will hope to make it down to Knoxville.

I don't think VaTech will be a national title threat.
Not only do they have trouble throwing the ball, but they have a laughably bad offense, plus they are one of the biggest teases in college football over the past decade.
Id love to see tech take on the SEC champion (who will likely play in the national title game just based on the pre season rankings etc). They will get throttled like they did the last time they played a national title game against a solid team. (Ala Florida State)
