2010 NCAA Football Season

See, that is where you and Jamarcus FAIL.

The position in which you were drafted and how much money you make doesn't equate to success.

Success is measured in how you play the game and the achievements that follow. J-Marc was content in being drafted and thought the game would come to him without hard work and dedication. You call that success? His lazy ass was anything but. To me he was an epic failure!!!!

I can give you at least 31million reasons why he wouldnt think he was not successful.

ANYONE that signs a contract for $68 million where $31 is guarenteed.....sounds pretty successful to me. Wouldn't you consider someone that get a guarenteed $31 million....successful? LOL!

Only if you want to define 'success' by how much money Fat Jamarcus stole from the Raiders.

That's a stupid comment when you know full well EVERY SINGLE year, the #1 overall pick has signed for WAY more than the previous year. Look how much the Washington Redskins gave Trent Williams, they gave him tons MORE than what JaMarcus got 3 years agos. Look how much Sam Bradford got. His guarenteed money is almost OVER $50 million...and the value of the contract is OVER $80+....

Funny, if it had NOTHING to do with sports...and someone came up to you and pointed out that person X has a contract with company Y and he made $31 million last year ....GUARENTEED, regardless of how well they did their job...they would consider them a HUGE success.

Exactly! :up

IMO, Leaf, Mirer, Akili Smith, Klingler and Andre Ware were all bigger busts than either Carr or Harrington.

I agree.

Anyone sacked as much as Carr was in first year, and through out his career, has to a be a bit shell shocked.

How do play football, let alone QB running for your life every week?

It's actually 41 and Bradford was 50 I think.

Who's 41? Yes, it was $50 guarenteed. EVERY single year, the #1 overall pick gets more and more. IF JaMarcus or ANY OTHER player would have been the #1 over all pick, that is what he would have gotten more or less....whether it was the Raiders or the Jets or the Dallas Cowboys.

Stafford got 41 M

No. I'm more of a romantic. I don't equate money to the only thing that defines success. Character, how well you do your job, winning, etc. All those things more accurately define success to me.

Plus, you and I both know the rookie pay scale in the NFL is broken and the only reason he got that money is because he tricked a bunch of people. He didn't actually earn it. Do you consider robbers or career thiefs successful?

If anything, he's more lucky than he is successful.

This train of thought is probably the reason Jamarcus failed in the first place.

He thought he was a success. He was told he was a success. He signed a contract for more money than anyone he's ever known, so he thought that was the reward of being "successful".

That was his ultimate downfall. He was content. He didn't achieve anything.

Preferably in life you work successfully and you make money because of it.
In the NFL if your a QB it's the other way around.

Alot of times the QB that is taken is not even the best player on the board.

This year is a prime example, I have nothing against Bradford, but he's NOT the best player in the draft and we all know it.

Don't feel like sifting through this logic.

Bottom line is, if you define success by how much money you got paid...yes, Jamarcus Russell got paid a lot of money.

If you define success by how well you play on the field, Jamarcus Russell was an epic failure.

I would say that economically wise JR is a success and as we all know as a QB he was a total bust just as I always suspected since the beginning. not because of lack of talent but because of his lack of effort.his terrible work ethics was obvious from the very beginning of his NFL career. one of the laziest QB's I've ever seen. But I won't say he stole this money from the raiders. The raiders didn't have to sign him or guarantee all that money to him.I'll place more of the blame on the current system that over pays rookies more and more each year. Its the system that's broken which allows someone who's hasn't played a down in the NFL to be paid more than the proven vets in the league. Basically we will never know how good jamarcus would've been if he was drafted under a system with a rookie salary cap which would require EFFORT to earn that nice contract. This is an issue even with vets being over payed.look at the situation in DC with haynesworth. He was overpayed and given too much guarranteed money so he sat his ass down and relaxed.

Make up your freakin' mind! Is the ACC hard, or will VT go undefeated? You can't have it both ways.

Make up my mind??? The ACC being hard and VT going undefeated can both happen ya know.. So yeah we can have it both ways. VT is picked to win the ACC this year by a very large margin and each year they have cept for last year after GT won by using illegal chop blocks and holds to make their option offense work. Now I know your like blah blah blah, well GT did and they were called out on it by a lot of people - I've never heard Frank Beamer say anything after a lose till after that game which really put PJ in a corner to defend his team when they had video footage of it. I'll post a few vids of it but I don't wanna go on arguing it but either way this joke of a game cost VT title hopes last year and the ACC championship.

Check it out yourself:

YouTube - What Paul Johnson thinks of chop blocks

Be sure to watch the line on this one.. right from the game and you can bet they did this all night long!

YouTube - Illegal chop block? You be the judge.

I think that will be coming to an end here soon .... a Rookie Salary Cap has to be right around the corner.
