2009 NFL Draft Countdown

I'm having a hard time following Mangini's logic right now. Trade Quinn and draft Sanchez? Trade Edwards? The last one is a real puzzler. You guys dumped Winslow, you got another WR who probably won't be a free man this season, and he wants to trade the only other proven WR you have? This sounds more like the Lion's than the Browns.

Hopefully these are all just silly rumors. I'm having a hard time in figuring out his logic too. :(

What you heard is true. Reports say that the Lions have come to terms with Aaron Curry. I assume they are using that as some sort of leverage against Stafford, but I don't see how that would work. Ryan signed for more than Jake Long did last season.

My question is this: When you have lost your last 17 games, and if Stafford is your man, what the hell are you trying to save a couple of $M for?

Personally, I would be just fine with making Curry the choice. That, with the pro-bowler they acquired a month ago, shores up the LB corps. Maybe if we didn't give up points at over a 2 to 1 ratio over our offense, we could actually win a game or three.

I agree, I like the Curry pick as well, Defense, Defense and more D!.....But I also think, though it does not sound like its going to happen, but now the number 1 pick has some trade value I think. Defense is the way to go with this team. Its been shown that you can win in the NFL with some D, and not the greatest QB

I agree whole-heartedly. when you give up over 500 points in one season, you really have to make some changes. I still don't see the Lions trading the #1 pick away. There just isn't anybody out there that outstanding that another team would want. No Peyton Mannings out there this year.

All this Sanchez talk is getting me nervous. It better be a smokescreen.

Worst case scenario is one of two things IMO... picking Stafford and forcing him to start and he becomes the next David Carr, or picking Curry the OLB and making him play ILB and he's ineffective.

Curry would be a huge upgrade at MLB for the Lion's. We currently don't have one. Didn't have one last year either, for that matter. Curry is a great athlete, and don't see why moving to the middle would be a problem.

Lions have selected a LB in the last 3 years now, haven't they found anyone yet ?
Isn't Ernie Sims a LB ?

What about the studs they supposedly took from I think it was Texas a few years back.

I think they should take the QB 1st and the O Lime man next, or take Smith first and package the 22 and the 2 nd round guy to move up and take Sanchez,or Stafford IF he's still around....
But the Lions brass would not do that.

From looking at some mock drafts IF the Lions take Smith #1, Stafford/Sanchez may BOTH drop to # 8 (maybe, at least one should be available).
Trade the picks I mentioned above for the number 8 pick and get the QB AND the O Line in the first round ....

But then, they would never do such a thing.
These are the Lions after all.....

Don't you find it ODD that the Tigers went out to get a closer named LYONS...
He stinks at the moment toooooo.

You're on the Clock....

Alright fellas. Any last minute pleads to your team owners/GM's?

Who do you want? You're on the clock. Make it count.

As for me, my selection is in. I've read enough and watched enough video to make my decision. I don't care where the so called "experts" have him ranked. This is a guy who is a hard as nails type guy. He is a real football player in every sense of the word. Someone that makes big hits, is lightning quick and can tackle with great ferocity. He is a game changer. Someone the opposing teams will fear. And now, without further adu....

With the #5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select.......

RAY MAUALUGA FROM USC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

HD, what do you think of the Draft being moved up from late-morning to the afternoon?

Personally I hate it. I used to love turning on the TV late morning and starting the draft right away and it lasting all Saturday long. Now I must try to contain myself until 4pm rolls around. :(

If this is in fact true, this is very unusual for the Patriots, If anything, they usually like to trade down.
