Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has a new trailer in the same style of the classic ones..
That ad was one of the most effective video game ads I can remember. I was back in high school when Gears 1 came out but that ad made me want that game before I really even knew what it was.
Here's a comparison for those that don't remember...
Honestly though, I DON'T remember that trailer. I remember a particular commercial that took place more in a building, but I can't seem to find it anywhere online. Maybe my memory is fading but I remember a different commercial that played primarily on tv, perhaps a 30 second spot. But yes like you that song stayed with me. Very effective advertising. And honestly seeing it again with this new game makes me more excited to play the Ultimate Edition next week. Maybe we could go through a campaign co-op like we did for Portal 2.
Actually thanks to the 5 game deal, we can play the ENTIRE SERIES via co-op..That'd be pretty cool. Then again we may have Gears fatigue after the 2nd one (I know I enjoyed 3 the least of the series because by then I was just like, "Okay, this is starting to get a little repetitive.") But 2 is by far the best of the series IMO, and the original Horde mode is just so awesome.
There's talk of Backwards Compatibility coming to the Xbox One...
Of the ORIGINAL Xbox One..

Why not, the Xbox 360 already does it, since the 360 is emulated, it's emulation of the xbox should be a no brainer. There's talk of Backwards Compatibility coming to the Xbox One...

Not necessarily. You're emulating a Xbox 360, which is then emulating an original Xbox. It might be easier to just emulate the Xbox directly because at least they have similar hardware. The original Xbox had a PC-like architecture, not to mention that the 360 did not always emulate Xbox games well. In any case we'll just have to wait and see. I don't see too much of a benefit of adding original Xbox compatibility. Once the 360 came out the Xbox was VERY quickly abandoned, and I don't think many people still have their original Xbox discs. Still, would look nice against the PS4 to say that they have 2 generations of BC while the PS4 still can't even play PS1 games. Why not, the Xbox 360 already does it, since the 360 is emulated, it's emulation of the xbox should be a no brainer.
With Gears of War being back on everyones' minds with the Ultimate Edition being released today, last night Cliffy B (One of the creators of the franchise from Epic Games) tweeted a whole bunch of random Gears facts. Some are rather interesting and show what can go into various gaming ideas. I saw this going on live last night and luckily someone was able to compile all the tweets into one place.Worth the read

Well this is pretty meta... here's some video of Cliffy B playing the new GoW Co-Op with his wife on Twitch
For reference, Cliff is on top and Lauren is on bottom
Well that's news to me. I just assumed everything was 60. Not sure why they didn't do it for SP. That has to be pretty damn jarring to jump between the 2. That sucks. Apparently they said they had to do it for the local co-op mode. Not sure why they couldn't just have it do 60 regular and then 30 on split screen. I've seen games do that before. Regardless like yourself I'm pining for Gamefly to get me this game, but sadly apparently they don't send the stuff through the mail and instead do a relay race from Pittsburgh to my local post office because I can't figure out why else it takes so damn long for stuff to get to me.
