X-Box, Playstation, and Wii Game News

Looks like we're getting a stand alone expansion of Wolfenstein: The New Order in the form of Wolfenstein: Old Blood. This'll be $20 and won't require New Order to run. Releases on 5/5 for PC and One/PS4. Last-gen consoles excluded.

Cool! I probably won't pay $20 for this but I'm in at some point.

Looks like we're getting Rock Band 4. They're talking about being able to bring your songs over as well as use your last gen instruments. If they can pull all that off, these guys deserve a medal.

Rock Band was one of my favorite games ever. I'm geeked for this release. I haven't been able to play since we got rid of our 360.

I'm probably going to be screwed for the DLC because I went from a 360 to a ps4.

Great.. We can finally get a feature that was advertised with the launch of the system...

It will be a great feature once it's added though. It works great on the Vita and Xbox One. It was really nice to be able to just pause Sunset Overdrive, shut the Xbox One down, and jump back to the exact spot I paused at next time I play with no load times. This is one of my most anticipated features for PS4 and PC.

RB and GH (and to an extent DC) are the main reasons I haven't sold my 360. So much music that I've downloaded over the years and money spent I just can't part with it.

Those series were at their peak when I was in college. Practically every dorm on my floor had a 360 with either a Guitar Hero or Rock Band setup. Someone would end up playing them by the end of just about every party.

I definitely had some good times with those games and feel some nostalgia towards them. It sounds like they are doing it right by carrying DLC forward and trying to make the old instruments work. Harmonix has also said that Rock Band will be a platfrom, not a franchise in the future. That means that instead of releasing sequels over and over again until they drive it into the ground again they will just have a constant stream of new DLC for this one game.

If everything they are saying turns out to be true it sounds like pretty great fan service. That being said, there is almost no chance I will ever own Rock Band for new consoles. I gave away my plastic instruments when I was leaving college because I knew I wasn't going to play on my own. It was a game I played with friends and I didn't want the instruments taking up space in my house just to collect dust. I'm not going to go out and spend $200 on a game bundle with the instruments for that same reason. I'd love to play it at a friends house during a get together but buying and storing all the required peripherals doesn't make sense for me.

I still got 2 guitars and a microphone. Before I had kids RB was a staple of our weekend plans with friends. Kind of hard now to be belting out songs when there's 3 kids trying to sleep upstairs. I'll still fire it up once in a while, usually after a few drinks.

I'll be shocked if 50% or more of my songs transfer over. I seriously doubt my AC/DC pack will go over, and I doubt they signed a really long term licensing deal with the Lego Rock Band songs.

I know its a different company, but if the complete failure of the vast majority of purchased Singstar songs for PS3 still not transferring over to PS4 (as promised) is any indication, Rock Band fans may be very disappointed. Of the 10 or so songs I bought, only one is available to me in the PS4 Singstar app, and of course my PS3 SS discs don't work in the PS4, in spite of the fact that PS2 SS discs were read by the PS3 app.

Yeah Harmonix has been pretty good with song licenses carrying over in the last generation of consoles. As I said, I don't expect my entire catalog of hundreds of songs to transfer over, but I'm confident a decent number of them will. I'm more concerned about how my instruments will work, if at all. I used my Guitar Hero controllers because they were so much better, and one is wired. I'm wondering if they'll work because it's just a matter of converting the frequencies, or if they're just going to work to support Rock Band equipment. And lord knows that old Rock Band guitar (which I think my friend has somewhere, along with my drums) was about as comfortable to use as a backpack.
