Details on TNA’s Big iMPACT Special, ECW Talents..Posted by Marc Middleton on July 27, 2010 at 3:01 AM • Comments (0)
- There is talk of TNA holding some shows with former ECW talents in the Northeast part of the country later this year. It’s no secret that ECW’s roots are in the Northeast.- TNA will be taping a special edition of iMPACT on August 9th in Orlando, the night after Hardcore Justice, and will air it that Thursday night. The line-up for the show will be loaded and feature ECW stars as well as TNA stars. It’s being called by some as a “free pay-per-view”, if that makes sense. The working title for the special is “The Whole F’N Show.” It’s said that the show will not feature promos and backstage segments. At the TNA Impact tapings held this past Monday night at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida, the company revealed how they'll get around referring to former ECW wrestlers as just that - ECW wrestlers. How?Apparently during the tapings, TNA repeatedly referred to ECW wrestlers as "EV2.0." This, according to ProWrestling.net, stands for Extreme Version 2.0....why cant they just let ecw die after the ppv instead of keeping it up

Lance Storm has the right idea about this...

I was hoping to write a bigger article about the TNA: ECW Themed PPV, because I am getting bombarded with questions, but I've got a very busy schedule for the next week, so I'll just address this here and now.

I was asked if I would be interested in taking part in the TNA: One Last Stand PPV. I think it was big of them to extend me the offer, considering my general opinion of the TNA product, and want to I thank them for that, but I will not be taking part.

I feel it would be hypocritical of me to work the show, considering my out outspoken views of the TNA product. I have a great deal of respect for the boys who will be working the show as well as the great workers on the TNA roster, but I have no desire to be a part of the TNA creative process. As for ECW, One Night Stand in 2005 was my farewell and am content in letting sleeping dogs lie.

Former ECW Champ Steve Corino has some great thoughts on it

While some names of original ECW wrestlers that will be a part of the TNA "Hardcore Justice" pay-per-view are starting to come out, one person that definitely will not be there is Steve Corino.

The former ECW World Heavyweight Champion says he hasn't been contacted to be a part of the Aug. 8 show but he doesn't want to be either and simply isn't interested in the ECW reunion.

"I'm so far removed from that whole ECW scene," Corino told FanHouse. "I don't think the ECW guys think I'm an ECW guy and it's all good. I like what I'm doing now. I never wanted to do the 'One Night Stand's' or 'Hardcore Homecoming's' and stuff like that. It was awesome for the time I was there but it's over!"

The idea for doing the reunion show came about from Tommy Dreamer who sold TNA President Dixie Carter on it and the company turned into a storyline on last Thursday's edition of "Impact!"

It's a concept that the WWE -- which owns the rights to ECW -- has done before with the "ECW: One Night Stand" pay-per-view in 2005 and again the following year using wrestlers from the original extreme promotion. So Corino isn't even sure why TNA has decided to do their own version of it rather than focusing on TNA talents.

"I don't get it," said Corino. "It's just not my thing. To me, ECW was so cool and I had so much fun there and I learned so much. But it was two years of my life. I appreciated every opportunity that it gave me and all the doors it opened for me. The bottom line is unless Paul (Heyman) is doing everything, I don't get it. I can't see how it's going to be successful. I hope it's good but I just can't see how it's going to be.

"Nothing against Tommy or Raven or any of those guys but they're ten years older. TNA should be more of an alternative than going back in time."

Another person that will not be a part of "Hardcore Justice" is Paul Heyman who was the owner and creative mind behind the original ECW before it went out of business in 2001. Heyman has stated that he will not be at the show and is not interested in being a part of the storyline either.

However, Heyman is in talks with Carter about joining TNA in a management position which would include taking over the creative direction of the promotion. Corino -- along with many others -- believes that TNA should make that happen.

"If he was given full power, that company would be awesome. You can't have a booking staff. It has to be Paul's show to really, really take it to the next level."

After reading that article I have more respect for Corino now. When he was in ECW (and after that in the indy scene) he was just a whiny little baby (maybe that was suppose to be his gimmick) but he has some really good points

i wonder how much tnas pvv low buys has to do with ufc ppvs being on the same weekend and tna should switch weekends to help there buys maybe plus better wrting and better creative team.what you all think?

Tonight is exactly what I complained about earlier in this thread! Run ins and cheap heat from Hogan, Nash, Sting and Jarrett (Arthritis Pain Formula boys?). And is Flair going to blade EVERY week? Back in the day, Nature Boy was one of if not my favorite wrestler. Now he's just pathetic. This is why TNA can't GIVE their product away!

and I love that next Thursday they're going to give us 2 hours of wrestling like we do on the PPV's

um...isnt that what youre SUPPOSE to do? BUt we all know they won't. It will be more promos than wrestling

Flair just needs to retire. He's becoming an embarrassment.

Even Dusty and Bruno knew when to pack it in! Flair seems like he wants to die in the ring. Is he hurting for cash? He is trashing his legacy!!!

Yeah, apparently Flair is having financial problems. The guy can still be entertaining and cut some of the best promos in the industry, but I don't need to see him wrestling/blading at 61. It really is sad.

Oh and Raven looks terrible and WTF was the licking of Dreamer last week about? Just creepy.
