What is wrong with the Cleveland Indians?

Hmmmm....a month ago I'd have said OK. But not now. Too many things have gone wrong for the Tribe to blame it all on Eric. And what will a managerial change do for the team now? It's too late. Let him finish the season and then decide.

I agree that what happened this season is not all Wedgie's fault. Countless injuries and a crappy bullpen are more to blame. With that said, it's clear by now the message "The Ginder" is sending his club just isn't working anymore.

It's time for a change. What the hell do we have to lose?

If/when Wedgie gets fired, the next question should be whether or not we should clean house? There has been a lot of players with great expectations who haven't performed up to their potential this year. With the trade deadline quickly approaching, do we blow this thing up? Who do we keep? Is this another dreaded rebuild?

My quick take:

Pronk seems to be doing nicely.
Victor is on fire.
DeRo is a goner by trade deadline no matter what he does.
Garko is progressing well. Needs one position EVERY day.
Sizemore? We need to see what operation comes in the postseason. But he is still a big plus.
Barfield needs a chance to play in one position EVERY day. He was on fire in San Diego. What happened in Cleveland?
I can't remember all of their names, but your core infield/outfield is pretty damn good.

We warned you about Wood and Pavano. Wood is a bust and Pavano is walking a tightrope. Trade him as soon as you can to get some value while he can still pitch. After this weekend in Wrigley, you can tar and feather Wood. He is toast. He should retire.

You need a pitching coach who can develop the young talent you have like Sowers and the others. (Who's the one who can't get out of the 5th inning?????)

IF Wedge goes, then so too should Shapiro. His choices (other than DeRo) for this season have been pipedreams at best.

Keep Choo, V-Mart, Sizemore, Cabrera, Carmona (not like anyone would actually want him) & Lee. Everybody else is up for grabs.

Jimmy Buffett's Pirates vs. the Cleveland Indians

Drats! The off-day came and went without the Skipper being fired! What are they waiting for?! In Wedgies 7 year tenure, the Indians have had 1 post season appearance and only 2 winning seasons. Completely unacceptable from a team who not all that long ago dominated the AL Central under the guidance of Mike Hargrove. I will not continue to accept mediocrity! Wedge must go!

In other news, the team is in Pittsburgh today for the start of a 3-game series against the Pirates. Ironically, Jimmy Buffett is also in town at the Post Gazette Pavilion for a concert. Will the Pittsburgh Pirates ride the karma of Jimmy Buffett, a Pirate in his own mind, to a victory? We shall see.

Speaking of Buffett, being a fan of my club reminds me of one of my favorite songs by the Beach Bum crooner: "A Pirate Looks at 40"......

I have been drunk now for over two weeks,
Passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But Ive got stop wishin, got to go fishin
Im down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends

Might I suggest...decaf? :p

Still attending games? If you are, then you are aiding and abetting mediocrity!

I refuse to go Lion's games, even when the tix are free. I'm not going to support what I feel is an inferior product. Sometimes the only way to bring about change is empty seats.

I am. :( For years I've wanted to boycott because of greedy owners and players, but I don't have the willpower to decline an invitation of sitting outside on a nice night w/friends drinking $7 beers.

Yes! There is a difference between sitting out on a beautiful Summer night in the Midwest or East and sitting in a domed arena in January. I will give ya one for atmosphere!:up

In June of 2007, the Rockies were way out of the playoff race, but we all remember how they did in September.

IMO, the Indians need to hang around until they turn on the afterburners.
