What is wrong with the Cleveland Indians?

...and of course Barfield was brought up for tonight as Cabrera joins the list of "walking wounded".

I hope they give Barfield some consistent playtime...I havn't given up on him yet.

Speaking of that, Andy Marte is having a nice year in AAA so far (.322, 5, 24). I'd like to see him get one last chance to prove himself if the Tribe throws in the towel at some point this year.

I've always liked Josh. He was moved to the outfield and such to get to stay in the Show and from what I saw he was doing OK. I turned around one day and he was gone! Let's hope he is up to stay and show us what he did when he was in San Diego and more. :up

Indians lose an afternooner to the Twins: 11-3

Please tell me football season is almost here? Please?!

PS, sweet new emoticons....

The Indians are only trailing the first-place Tigers by 7 games.

This isn't like last year's Nationals or Mariners, who were out of the race by Memorial Day.

IMO, the Indians' best chance to make a run- Interleague Play. If they can get to within 3 or 4 by then, who knows?

You don't think the Browns are going to lift your spirits do you? I'll put the odds on that as being slightly better than the Lion's raising mine.

Wait a minute, the Red Wings are in the finals, the Tiger's are in first. When the Lion's start it's all down hill for me.:(

Well, anything is better than what I'm seeing right now out of my team. At least with the Browns, we will be able to see signs of progress with the new regime and all.

Let's Get Them Boys Healthy!!!

BREAKING: Jake Westbrook Starting in Akron!!!!

Cleveland Indians RHP Jake Westbrook will make his first rehab appearance of the 2009 season tonight with the Akron Aeros as they take on the Altoona Curve in a doubleheader. Westy has been shelved for most of the 2008 and thus far all of the 2009 season with elbow problems. He underwent Tommy John surgery just last September after also suffering through hip problems, and now seems destined to be with the Indians by the end of the month.

His return will be a huge boost to the Indians rotation that now includes red-hot Carl Pavano, Cliff Lee, David Huff, Jeremy Sowers and a currently unidentified replacement for Fausto Carmona (possibly the Zack Attack).

PS, for those of you who haven't heard, Fausto has been sent down. Not to the minors, but back to the Arizona Rookie League in Goodyear, Arizona!!! He needs to go back to the basics to work on mechanics. Also, Travis Hafner got activated and made his way back in the lineup yesterday. My boy Pronk smacked a HR in his first game back!

Now, we need to get G-Size and A-Cabrera back ASAP, among others! Let the healing begin!

No No-No, But So Nice!

So I logged on this morning, the first time since returning back to lovely Ohio and to my surprise, there was barely any chatter at all on Cliffy's pitching performance on Sunday Night Baseball! What have you boys been doing while I was gone?!

To recap, the defending Cy Younger pitched masterfully, allowing 0 hits through 7 innings. He went on to give up a total of 3 hits in the 8th and 9th en route to a complete game shutout. He had only 2 walks the entire game, both in the 1st inning. After that, he was nearly flawless!

The No-No was broken up just as Joe Morgan was starting to tell the viewing audience that if Cliff Lee get's the final 6 guys out in order, he wouldn't have to face Albert Pujols the rest of the way. Thanks a lot you BIG jinx!!

BTW, pay no attention to Cliffy's win/loss record (4-6). The Tribe averages less than 2 runs a game when Lee is on the mound. It's a strange anomaly and very unfortunate. Cliff has been as dominant of a pitcher this year (minus his first two outings of the season), as he was in his Cy Young campaign last year. In the last 12 games, Cliff has given up a total of 20 runs, or 1.66 a game! Despite the first two games of the season where Cliffy gave up a total of 11 earned runs and a 12.60 ERA, he has since sliced his ERA all the way back down to 2.88!

If it wasn't for his unbalanced and unwarranted Win/Loss record, I'd say Cliffy would be among the top 4 candidates for the AL Cy Young again this year with the rest of the short list obviously being: Grienke, Verlander and Halladay.

Go Cliff! Go Tribe! Go C-Pavano tonight!!!! Let's turn this season around!!!

Juuuust A Bit Outside!

See, this is why the Indians just can't seem to turn the corner.....

It almost seems like every time the Indians have a great game, the very next day they take a hard loss. This is a problem. We need to be able to string together consecutive wins. We need to get on some sort of roll, but it still isn't happening.

We had a 12-7 lead in the 7th, but the Brew Crew came storming back, highlighted with a Prince Fielder Grand Slam in the 8th to win 14-12.

Pavano wasn't the sharpest he's been all year, but he "only" gave up 6 ER. Surely the outing should've been enough to secure a victory with the way the Tribe swang the bat last night, but NOoooO! The bullpen tanked again.

With Bob Uecker on hand, images of the 1989 "Major League" woeful Indians teams were eerily present. Only, on this 20 year anniversary of the vintage comedy, the 2009 season is anything but a movie. Sadly, this season is REAL! Oh, the agony!!!!!!! :(:sob:
