Video Game Deals

It really is a dick move IMO that old PS1 games don't work on the PS4. I mean hell, cell phones from 5 years ago are capable of software emulation of PS1 games. Would it have been THAT big of a deal to include it in the PS4? It would at least expand their pitiful game library. Then again, they didn't bother putting in CD Playing capabilities, you know from the company that pioneered CD technology in the first place..

/end rant

Actually on the subject of dick moves, here's the August PS+ Free games Lineup:

I actually don't mind a couple of the PS Plus choices this month and Rocket League was worth it on it's own last month. I've been wanting to check out Sound Shapes for quite a while now. I might give Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris a chance too. I enjoyed Stealth Inc 1 on my Vita so I may check out the sequel while I watch baseball/NFL Redzone on TV.

Very happy with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. That's one I would've bought if the price was right (<$10). I really enjoyed the earlier Guardian of Light. I've been curious about Sound Shapes as well. In fact all the Plus games seem pretty solid for August even if I won't play most of them. Who knows, maybe I'll play my first GoW game? Since it's a prequel, I assume I'll be able to follow the story.

With cross-buy, we're essentially getting 4 PS4 games, 4 PS3 games, and 3 Vita games. 11 games total.

You can get the Jackbox Party Pack for $9.99 (60% off) for PC from Bundle Stars. This is a GREAT package. This has become a regular when I have friends over. Fibbage XL is nearly worth full price by itself, YDKJ is still fun, and Lie Swatter is good for some quick fun. And the best part is that you don't play with your keyboard but rather your cell phone/tablets, so its easy to get a large group of people to play. Seriously, it's a lot of fun

On Indie Gala you can get One Finger Death Punch for $1.24. This game is more than worth it for the $5 asking price, so $1.24 is more than awesome for this,

The Jackbox Party Pack is well worth that $9.99 price point. I paid the full $24.99 and easily got my money's worth out of it. It's a great time when friends come over to have a few drinks. I have 4 different friends who bought their own copy after playing it at my house so that tells you how effective it is as a party game.

Drawful is always the favorite among my friends. You are asked to draw something with your finger on your smartphone's touchscreen. Everyone else then tries to guess what it is by typing in their own answers. Then everyone gets to see the correct answer and all the answers people guessed. Everyone then selects the answer they think is the correct one based on your drawing.

You get points based on how many people correctly guess what you drew. If people select an incorrect answer, the person who made up that answer gets the points instead. The terrible drawings and ridiculous made up answers based on them can be pretty hilarious, especially if everyone is drinking.

This week's Humble Bundle comes from Bandai Namco. I'll likely get in for $1 for Pac Man alone. I'll wait until next Tuesday to see which other games get added to the "beat the average" tier first though.

Green Man Gaming has updated their VIP games.

Mad Max is available as a pre-order for $35.99
Battlefield Hardline is available for $26.99
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sins (re-release) $22.99

There are other pretty good prices too. I'm hoping Fallout 4 goes up at that $35 price point before release or shortly after.

Looks like there is no weekly bundle this week. I'm sure that's happened before but they follow their new bundle every Thursday at 2:00PM ET schedule pretty religiously.

Yeah it's not uncommon for them to take the occasional hiatus. The current Namco one isn't that bad but sadly I already own a good portion of those games already. I will say though that EVERYONE should spend $1 to get the Pac Man game. It's really a lot of fun and very addicting, and this is coming from a guy who was never a big Pac Man fan.

I was in the same boat when I tried this Pac Man game after getting it free through PS Plus. Back in the arcade days, I was lucky if I could get past the first board on my one quarter. This version is extremely accessible, fast-paced, yet easy, and more importantly, fun! Not to mention, there's a ton of content, including various modes and a lot of different types of boards.
