"they can switch everything over to "TURBO" 8psk." ?

Why need to switch to this, if it's already USING ?!
WTF? I can only see this post by going to his name and selecting the most recent post. I can't see it by just going to this thread.

I thought the 8psk they've been using was already turbo too, but since so many others have said the opposite, I've been bending my posts lol :)

Is the only 2 8psks turbo and trellis? and since they arent using trellis is would be turbo?

I don't know either. I'm just going on what Scott had mentioned in this post: http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=111345

They may already be using it.

I believe they've always been using 8PSK TC, however they can always change the amount of error correction. Currently they use 2/3, which means 33% of the bitstream is error correction. They could bump it to 3/4, reduce the fec to 25%, and get more bandwidth.

Another thing we've seen them testing is QPSK w/ turbo codes. There is only one tranponder doing this on 129 right now. Only modules with the broadcom chip can tune qpsk turbo as well...

As for firmware updates.. Some may be related to these new channels, however I'm gonna bet we see a bunch fairly soon to combat some pesky hackers who blew the new system wide open.

Goalie - I think people would riot if they did HDLite :) Lets hope they switch those to 8psk when the time comes.

Scott - I can now see P. Smiths posts! Thanks for whatever solved it :)

the tp's on 61.5 just lit up.. Im able to recive them on my 942.. Im going to try to take a snapshot of those tp's later.. Psmith is reporting that theres hd content on those tp's with the exception of 19. :)

Now they went bye bye.. on my 942... Im gonna swing the big dish that way and get away from the dpp 44 to see if I can get a better picture of whats going on over at 61.5

Someone at Dish is having a great time watching these uplink threads and flipping switches on and off just to mess with us.:D

P.Smiths post have reappeared in this thread. Must have been a forum bug again.

It's too late to scream :) - some of Voom channels squeezed by 3 in one transponder and using "HDlite" mode, ie 1280x1080 :(.

When they went 8PSK (DiscoveryHD, death of the 5000) they went 8PSK w/Turbo Coding. The TC isn't new. I remember researching it when they decided to put 3 HD channels per transponder.

psmith is are those in qpsk still??? im finding my self unable to tune in to those tp's and my 942 doesnt want to play nice eaither..

My 6000 shows signal level on all the odds 1-19 on 61.5. However I can't lock with my twinhan, so I'm not sure whats going on since they are listed qpsk 3/4.

It's been 8psk turbo from the beginning. It's just that people believe too much what was said on Tech chat. Some people tried to explain it here but many here do not know and are stubborn. So they keep repeating this stupid myth.

ch 742 - TVCI (Russian one) .. at 121 location - it's reported that the content is uplinked / being testing now on this channel ....

Woo-hoo - another Russian one is coming - looks like :)

Theres now epg information on the new voom uplinks.. currently the epg is showing the channel name... also the 129tps that have the new voom uplinks are now showing 129 instead of 00.00

also i am seeing on 129 tp 12.603 GHz has changed to qpsk instead of 8psk.

While this is true to a point, I am told that this is a software upgrade to a new version of 8 PSK turbo (Much like when you had Analog modems and were able to update them to 56k via a software update)

I am told that all HD receivers are getting a software upgrade to support this new version of 8PSK turbo within a week.

Is this true or not I don't know. I am only reporting what I am being told.

My guess is that if they are going to get them up and running they will do it before Thanksgiving.
Because that's the day a lot of people will be boob tuben.
But that could be a big if.

Gunn that would be my guess as well. And what a way to generate Holidays sales then to give their high end customer's 21+ HD channels to show off to their friends and family after thanksgiving dinner.
