It's happening. Holding your hands over your ears, and yelling "I can't hear you. I can't hear you" will not change that fact.

Wrong because it will be hundreds of dollars cheaper and full featured. I will be saying how SOny is price gouging.

Since Toshiba is a bargain brand, it will undoubtedly be cheaper. Whether it has more features will remain to be seen.

I'm leaning towards Panasonic, myself.

One of the billion press releases posted around said Toshiba has no plans for entering the BD player market. They might purchase players for their computers from other manufacturers.

Japanese news site Nikkei.net has just announced that Toshiba's plan is to immediately stop manufacturing all HD-DVD products (both players and recorders), and to stop selling them at end of March. The official announcement will happen at the press conference set for 5 PM Tokyo time. We'll be back with Toshiba's official statement as soon as it comes in.
