The NEW iPhone 4S Discussion

Pre-orders for 4S start Friday, and the phone launches Oct. 14. It will be available on Sprint as well as AT&T and Verizon.

No LTE probably the most off-putting, or I'd probably pre-order one. That pushes me back to wait and see and will end up pushing me to instead wait and see what the Vigor, HD, Prime, whatever all have to offer.

The only Android phone I was looking at with Verizon was the Bionic, but then again just like with the EVO my biggest gripe is battery life.

Well, the good news is that I probably don't have to upgrade my phone this year! ;)
I think I can skip this one.

Who here is looking to get one?
Not me. I'm not paying $200 for a phone that doesn't do 4G. And I know they said it had a theoretical peak speed of 14.4 Mbps, but nothing ever happens theoretically when it comes to wireless technology. Don't get me wrong, HSDPA is good technology, but I was really hoping for LTE.

The voice thing looks cool... I wonder if you can say "Tea. Earl Grey.. HOT!" and have it make you a cup.

This thing is like the Star Trek phone. :D

LOL - the thing is, you know its going to work as smooth as butter. Voice search on my droid, not so much.

I am bummed about not getting a bigger screen, but this device will provide total seemless syncing between all of my devices, and that is a winner in my book.

I wonder if it will allow you to sync purchases between devices on the same account? Example: If I purchase an app in the app store on my phone and my wife wants it on hers too?

As someone who has a 4G phone now, I can safely say that I won't miss 4G if I switch to the new phone.

4G eats the battery like crazy... and most of the time the data speads are faster on 3G then 4G around here...

I keep 4G off 99.9% of the time.

YES, assuming you are on the same Apple ID.

And with iOS5 there is wireless syncing of new purchases. New apps on my wife's iPad show up on my iPad, and vice versa.

When we lived in the metroplex I noticed 4G was spotty at best on the EVO. I'd have it on listening to some music and it would cut off abruptly and I'd have to reacquire the 4G signal. Not worth it in my opinion, at least with Sprint.

I could care LESS about 4G. The iPhone 4S will be plenty fast for what I need, and my unlimited 3G contract will be unharmed. :)

Well crap. We use different Apple IDs on our Macs now. When we had the 3G a long time ago we used different Apple IDs because of the contacts. I'd love to use the same Apple ID but I'd be afraid of us messing up each other's contacts.

check out nexus prime, I think you will like!

You know James, for the last year my Droid experience has been ONE frustration after another, somehow they lost me, and the convergence of of my operating systems just makes sense. Plus I can still use google calendar and gmail and maps, the three google services I use every day. Even without the larger screen I am going to make the switch.

That's what happens when you drink a gallon of Apple juice I guess. Well, its one of the things that happens. :)
