The LeBron James Free Agency Thread

Thank you all for the raging optimism! ;)

Geesh. I guess basketball will cease to exist in this town if he leaves, huh? Boy oh boy will I be happy once all this speculation is over and done with, no matter what he decides.

Ugh, yeah, that's pretty much what I'm saying. Sorry.;)

Hehe, what's really hilarious is that people in Cleveland think that if Lebron stays put, that they will actually win a championship before his new contract ends.. LOL

oops this is gonna cause some excitement here now, jua jua

Notable quotes from LeBron in the Larry King interview set to air on Friday...

"This city, these fans... have given me a lot in these seven years. And, you know, for me, it's comfortable. So I've got a lot of memories here. And so it DOES have an edge."

"My whole family is here. A lot of things mean home for me here. And it's not just about the basketball court."

I would walk into the offices of the owner and make reachable demands. That team is built to win alot of games with HIM on it, BUT, it is not good enough to win the NBA championship....2 years in a row with a better roster than the previous proves that.

I dunno. I accept last years loss. We played well, but ran into a buzzsaw (Orlando Magic).

I still think we didn't play up to our potential in this year's playoffs. There was clearly a distraction. I say bring back the same group next year and see what happens. It's too early to make more drastic changes. Let the core gell and learn to play together.

Agreed. Plus, IF they re-sign Lebron, I don't believe the team has the latitude to change very much anyway. The only way Lebron's demands can be reachable is if he takes less salary so the team can use it to sign someone else. Don't hold your breath waiting for that one to happen.

I said the same thing in the "summit" thread. At the end of the day all those free agents will want the max contracts, and nobody will take a pay cut to play with another free agent. The only way I see any of these guys changing teams will be with "sign and trade" contracts. Again with the exception of Bosh, who I really believe will take less to play anywhere but Toronto.

The whole fact that he is on Larry King is a joke. He made a comment that he is the ring bearer or some crap, he hasn't won squat in this league. LeBron is trying to remain relevant now that there are teams with more buzz and people have come back to their senses about Kobe still being the best player

Swap LeBron out for Kobe on the Lakers and it's a dynasty that can't be touched for 15 years.

I hate to disagree with you...but I do. The ONE THING that Kobe has that Lebron does not....is a killer instict in the playoffs. I hate Kobe, but come playoff time....he is an assassin. Lebron is just not there yet.

lebron needs to take over games, something he doesn't do. instead of driving at crucial points, he fires up jump shots(something he is bad at). I might agree with a Dwyane Wade/Gasol dynasty. 15 years is a bad timeframe because Kobe is 32 and Gasol is 29.
Also, what happened to Cleveland having a great team and the Lakers being old, weak, pathetic dogs, like you posted at the beginning of the postseason?

The LeBron rumor mill: Good friend Carmelo says it's Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Here's one reason to listen to Carmelo Anthony: At least he says he's been talking to LeBron James recently.

Unlike, oh, say, President Obama, that gives Anthony's comments some weight.
"I think he's going to stay," Anthony told Yahoo! Sports at halftime of Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Where there you have it!
