The LeBron James Free Agency Thread

So you see, not only have we not had the same starting lineup for two consecutive years, but our starting lineup in the playoffs has been different from our regular season starting lineup in each of the very same years! I think you're starting to see my call for consistency.
I'm not sure how much validity there is to compare consistency of starting lineups from year to year. Most teams now have a main core group of players with a changing supporting cast. The turnover in the league is different now than even just back to the two Bulls' three-peat efforts...

Fine, but the only consistency in those 3 years has been LeBoob. A "core" generally involves more than one person.

And, who's fault would that be??

That's why this would have to be James' main consideration for leaving. Each year seemed to be piece-mealed to fill a supposed need instead of building for the long-term. Will that change in Cleveland??

If will if LeBron commits to us for longterm, rather than holding us hostage every year. The last few years, the team has been run as if we're panicking to win now, or lose LeBron forever.

Wait, wasn't Marshmallow Puff drafted by Oakland the same year Quinn was in Cleveland? Don't talk to me about team patience!

How many starts did QUINN have as compared to Fat Boy??!! 14 games to 31 games....NO COMPARISON. IN FACT, Russell STARTED more games than QUINN played in TOTAL.

So you, there Raiders were TWICE as patient with Russell than Quinn.

In 2007-2008, our staring lineup for the majority of the season was this::
D. Gibson ? D. Gooden ? Z. Ilgauskas ? L. James ? S. Pavlovic

In the 2007-2008 playoffs, our starting lineup was:
D. West ? B. Wallace ? Z. Ilgauskas ? L. James ? W. Szcerbiak

In 2008-2009, our staring lineup for the majority of the season was this:
Z. Ilgauskas ? L. James ? B. Wallace ? D. West ? M. Williams

In the 2008-2009 playoffs, our starting lineup was:
Z. Ilgauskas ? L. James ? A. Varajao ? D. West ? M. Williams

In 2009-2010*, our staring lineup for the majority of the season was this:
J. Hickson ? L. James ? S. O'Neal ? A. Parker ? M. Williams

In the 2009-2010 playoffs, our starting lineup was:
A. Jamison ? L. James ? S. O'Neal ? A. Parker ? M. Williams

All I did was answera question about how long the Boston lineup had been together. I am not sure how any of this relates to that.

Andy and Delonte don't even start for us any more. Shaq is a FA and I don't think he'll be back next season. IF LeBron isn't back, this will most likely be our rotation:

PG: Mo Williams, Boobie Gibson
SG: Anthony Parker, Delonte West
SF: Danny Green
PF: Antawn Jamison, Leon Powe,
C: JJ Hickson, Anderson Varajao

Even without LeBron, I still think we're a playoff team.

This team will be an 8th or 7th seed, IMHO.

 You're making LeBron sound like Favre. LeBron signed his extension in 2006, right??

Thank you. I was just continuing the conversation by showing you the core of Boston has been much more consistent than the Cavs and suggest this as a reason why we can't get over the hump.

I don't think it is a stretch to say that LeBron is the most highly coveted free agent in the history of history.

Not Reggie White in 1993. Not Alex Rodriguez in 2000.

At this rate, the league will soon be stinkin' rich!!!

Hawks owner Michael Gearon has been fined $25,000 for making comments that violated the NBA's anti-tampering rules.

The fine was announced by Joel Litvin, the president of league and basketball operations, and was the third handed down in recent days for violation of the rules.

Gearon was fined for comments that appeared in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on May 19, when he said he'd be willing to subject the team to the luxury tax if it could sign Cleveland's LeBron James to a maximum contract.

"If somebody came to us tomorrow and said you can have LeBron for max money and it puts you in the luxury tax, I'd do it in a heartbeat," Gearon told the newspaper on May 19. "But am I going to do that for [Zydrunas] Ilgauskas? Am I going to do it for Jermaine O'Neal? I don't think so . . . "

....but the baseball player, on a good team that will play in the playoffs plays twice as many games...

We've already agreed contracts are completely based on supply and demand. You can also factor in the collective bargaining agreements of different leagues.

Figuring out how much time someone spends in the court/field is irrelevant.
