Stargate SG-1 Discussion

Agreed, but I'm guessing that Tapping was doing the family thing around that time and didn't want to put in as much set time as would've been required, so they brought Browder in.

That is probably dead-on accurate, but still, makes it harder.

Watching The Pegasus Project. Great episode. And for some reason the episode on Netflix is definitely in HD.

Yeah, no Stargate experience, no alien contact etc.at all (other than the Antarctic deal) vs 8 years plus ... no brainer ;)

Bingo. I don't dislike Cam, but how he would get command of SG-1, makes little sense.... although lets also remember the end of season 8 with Sam and Jack at the camp; she left SGC for Area 51, and is "involved" in a unstated relationship.... its hilarious that we can nit pick this stuff; but that is what is so compelling about it.

Just finished Pegasus Project. One of my favorites of the last couple seasons without a doubt.

Shifted to SGA for an episode and it ended up being the one where Carson was killed. That had to be the dumbest decision the producers had made - and not very creative, since they killed off Frasier on SG-1, but in this instance, it was eliminating a moral compass on the show. Dumb, dumb, dumb... And not fun to watch (particularly since I forgot it was "THAT episode" until just before it happened.

Yeah, that's how I am spending my spring break, watching some Stargate... :D

ugh I hated that! I loved Carson
Funny - Every time my husband saw "Adria" in any other show, before she could speak a line he said "Hello Mother". She guest starred on something receintly - maybe the Mentalist - and he did that and she ended up saying "Hello Father" it was sort of funny if you were there :)

With Carter at Area 51, Jack had to pick someone...couldn't be Teal'c and Daniel isn't "military", so Cam was his choice. Plus, if folks noticed, Cam took many of the kinds of lines Jack would usually deliver, as did Daniel. It sorta worked, but dang if Jack just had a certain way of saying things that neither Cam or Daniel could deliver on... ;)

Ultimately the real problem with seasons 9 and 10 is NOT the Ori Arc as much as it is that it isn't the "real" SG-1, its got a new commander, and Vala went from a thief to a member of the team. :)

Entirely true. The Ori arc would've felt very different and been more generally enjoyable had it been with the entire original cast rather than so many cast changes...

Exactly. New general, new doctor, no O'Neill, Cam, Vala, increased obnoxious role of the IOA, and on and on.. And then to throw vinegar into the wound... the Ori. Hallowed be the Ori. Blah, Blah, Blah... :)

Well, they did add fun characters like Dr Lee. He provided a certain amount of comic relief at times.

To me Dr. Lee comes off as a kind of a farce, and while it provides comic relief, its almost inconceivable that he'd survive in the environment. As it is, whenever I see him, I still harken back to the two nut-job scientists who try to rescue SG-1. I'd prefer a scientist more along the lines of Dr. Zalenka on SGA. There is always a bit too much eye-rolling at Dr. Lee. Mostly by Sam.

But I am nit-picking. Obviously, I don't want to do my real work this morning :D

Watching 200.

So much fun.

Wait a minute. 1) That's Star Trek, and 2, its ridiculous.

What's wrong?

The singularity is about to explode? Everything about that is wrong.

"Never underestimate your audience they are generally sensitive intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment."

"I do not understand why everything in this script must inevitably explode."

:D

The new doctor and new general were big changes, but Cam and Vala changed it the most. Essentially, they needed two characters to replace Jack. That's a tough pill to swallow. The Ori were the bad guys...not that different from the Go'auld, really...what with all their "kneel before your god", blah, blah, blah. They were just different in their approach, but that was about it. The IOA is the political wing getting into things. I didn't like seeing them get involved more either, but I suppose it was inevitable...

Spoilers! ;)

I just today got SG-1 season 1 episode 1 from Blockbuster@home.

I'll be a while catching up. Especially if my wife wants to watch them too.

I enjoyed 200 so much. They old have ended it right then and there.

Navy, you have 200 episodes plus to catchup. Get busy! But make sure you see the film first.
