PS4 Owners Thread

Those sound very similar to the trophies in Housemarque's other excellent game, Dead Nation. I can't wait to try this. I assume we'll be seeing DLC for this at some point as well.

I actually had this feature in mind when I picked up Sony's proprietary Vita earbuds with mic a few weeks ago (for a whopping $12--though they are actually better than any other earbuds I own). Speaking of cheap, doesn't the PS4 come bundled with a junky headset to be used with the controller jack?

Yes, it does come with a cheap chat headset. The earbud it comes with only goes in one ear. I don't think you would want to listen to game audio with that thing when you only have sound going to one ear. I think it's specifically for chat audio. I have never actually used it because the camera's built in microphone seems to handle chat audio pretty nicely.

If anyone wants to play Battlefield shoot me a message. I'm just ok at the game but these 64 player conquest matches are pretty great. I can't wait to see what Dice does with star wars battlefront. That was one of my favorite games on the original Xbox.

Wait.. the PS4 uses a wired jack now? I just assumed they used the BT stuff like they did with the PS3..

Ya, the PS4's Bluetooth support is nothing like the PS3's due to the fact that the controllers are no longer Bluetooth in favor of a tweaked spec to cut down on latency and has the side effect of killing the battery life. They only put in what they needed for launch. As you can see from the list on their site support is very limited until they write in more support for Bluetooth device profiles.

They are still Bluetooth. They also have a stereo headset jack. It has two settings. One is for chat functions only, and the other is full game audio to include chat.

Is Battlefield 4 pretty good? I've been seeing some pretty bad reviews of it.

I am having a good time with it on PS4. It depends if you are into multiplayer shooters though. I played the first mission of the campaign and had enough. The story just isn't good and it's not as fun as a single player experience as something like Killzone, Halo, or Gears of War.

On the other hand, if you are into multiplayer shooters Battlefield 4 is pretty great. The 64 player conquest matches are like nothing I have ever played before. Not only are there tons of people running around on huge maps but there are also tanks, LAVs, helicopters, jets, boats, jet skies, four wheelers, etc... You can take any of these vehicles into a capture point to cause some havoc while your teammates man the guns. There are 4 different classes of soldiers to pick from with different weapons and abilities. The game doesn't emphasize your kill-death ratio as much as something like COD. You can get near the top of your teams leaderboard by repairing vehicles as an engineer, reviving teammates, supplying ammo, spotting enemies for your teammates, and all kinds of other things. It really is a great multiplayer experience and that's why I can't wait for them to bring Star Wars Battlefront back.

I have experienced one glitch a few times. Sometimes when I get in a vehicle all the sound besides gunfire and nearby vehicles stops playing. Once this happens it doesn't come back until I am loaded into another level for the next match. It is very jarring when all the normally impressive background noise just disappears for 20 minutes or so. Outside of that, everything is working well for me.

If you are into multiplayer shooters and you have a PC, PS4, or Xbox One I say pick up BF4. I don't think you will regret it as long as you are ok with completely ignoring the single player campaign.

If you are playing on PS3 or 360 it's slightly harder to recommend. In addition to the visual pop, those versions are also missing the 64 player conquest mode I raved about earlier. The 360/PS3 versions are limited to 32 players and I assume, smaller maps. That being said, all the vehicles and soldier classes are still there. It is still the same type of gameplay but on a smaller scale.

I'm more of the multiplayer type for shooters so I think I would like it then. The 64 player match sounds amazing but sadly I only have the PS3 and don't see myself getting the PS4 for another year or so.

I was curious as to what your thoughts were on Killzone. From what I've seen and heard it looks pretty awesome.

I really like Killzone Shadow Fall. for the PS3 Killzone games someone else will have to help you there. I played a small amount of Killzone 2 and never tried Killzone 3. Killzone on PS4 has a fun single player campaign and great graphics. The multiplayer is fun too but it's closer to COD style multiplayer. There are gadgets and special abilities you can choose but no vehicles. The amount of players in a match is similar to Call of Duty too. There are no 64 player matches to be found here. As a complete package with single player and multiplayer Killzone is the better game. While I do like Killzone's multiplayer, BF4's huge multiplayer matches are more to my liking.

The PS4 is currently in stock on Amazon if anyone is looking for one. You don't have to do any crazy bundle to get it either.

If you don't have one yet... then don't worry! As we will be giving away a Playstation 4 system at our annual Holiday Party which will be held on December 16th at 8PM here at SatelliteGuys! :D

 Scott, I've been really, really, really, really good this year! I want a PS4 so bad but can't justify buying one yet, also called, "My wife would kill me." If I got one for free she wouldn't have any reason to complain, although she would still complain anyway.

Well, if you just went to Taco Bell like King did perhaps you wouldn't be in this predicament right now..

I know, and I would have but I don't have a Taco Bell in my town. I'd have to drive a half hour to get to one. I see that McDonalds if having a giveaway with the XBox One now.
