PS4 Owners Thread

Great. I was all about Crash back in the PS1 days. I was a kid then and I'm not sure how well that type of gameplay would hold up though.

I visited a local Best Buy store this morning to see if they had any PS4s available. I was told they had a handful available earlier but those sold out. Apparently they open the store at 8am for the holiday season. Such is life.

I just got the platinum trophy for Resogun. I consider this my first real platinum trophy. The only other one I have came from The Walking Dead but you get that platinum just for playing the whole game. I was pretty addicted to this game but now that I have all the trophies I'm probably done with it. The only thing that would probably suck me back in is if someone tops my high score of 55 million points.

Congrats!!

Now if someone will just send me a PS4 with this game, we can get down to business!

Congrats! Resogun is considered a relatively hard plat in the trophy hunting community, especially if you do some of the harder trophies solo. Were you specifically going for trophies or did they all come naturally from all the time you put into it?

First I was just playing it naturally until I beat the game on experienced difficulty. After that I took a look at the trophy list and thought the remaining trophies looked doable. Then I played specifically to get the rest of the trophies. The one that gave me the most trouble was playing through the entire game on experienced without losing your 3 lives. Beating the game on veteran was tough but you could do it one level at a time so dying in the 3rd level didn't mean you have to start over. Beating a level on master difficulty was also tough but thankfully you only have to beat one level on that difficulty. I don't think I could beat the whole game on master.

I just discovered a new feature while playing tonight. You can plug any set of standard headphones into the PS4 controller and get game audio that way. Now I can play my games at night without worrying about my big 5.1 setup disturbing people. You just have to go into the sound settings and change the headphone setting from chat only to all audio. Now there is no reason to spend hundreds of dollars on a dedicated gaming headset if you already have some nice standard headphones lying around the house. I applaud Sony for using a standard 3.5mm headphone jack instead of a proprietary port like the Xbox controller.

No you can't. The PS3 controller doesn't have any headphone jacks on it. On the PS3 you can buy something like a Turtle Beach or Astro headset that plugs into the optical out on the back of the PS3 but you can't just plug standard headphones in.

Those sound very similar to the trophies in Housemarque's other excellent game, Dead Nation. I can't wait to try this. I assume we'll be seeing DLC for this at some point as well.

I actually had this feature in mind when I picked up Sony's proprietary Vita earbuds with mic a few weeks ago (for a whopping $12--though they are actually better than any other earbuds I own). Speaking of cheap, doesn't the PS4 come bundled with a junky headset to be used with the controller jack?

Wait.. the PS4 uses a wired jack now? I just assumed they used the BT stuff like they did with the PS3..
