Paramount +

NCIS Sydney doesn't show up as HDR for you?
Didn't see that in the new list, so didn't check it.

Fire tv only shows the tags on the home screen of the app, so it's not easy to see them unless it's on your list or currently airing.

I'm using a Fire cube. NCIS Origins is the only other CBS show that has HDR/dolby vision available. All the others are just 4k and some 5.1.
None of the Paramount+ 4K shows on my 4K Amazon Fire TV Cube as 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision or 5.1.

The Hulu app shows The Old Man as 4K on the same 4K Amazon Fire TV Cube so I still think it is the Paramount+ app that is the problem.

NCIS Origins is in 1080P HDR/DV, not in 4K-

Where are you looking?

The only place it shows it is in the 1st screen that the app opens up to. You can move through the rows and the top part with the show info will show the tags. If you click on anything, the tags won't be shown on the actual show page. No clue who built the app but they shouldn't be doing app development.

The main page for each show. That is where it shows the 4K, Dolby Vision and HDR info for that show.

That's the issue. You can't click onto the show page. Once you do that, you lose the all the tags on Amazon Fire TV OS. You have to stay on the Paramount+ home app screen and then go through the rows to see the tags.

The app is not well done.

OK thanks. That is weird but it does show the info there.

I have the 65" XBR-950H. Sony released two updates in 2024. With each update, the usability of the TV as a Smart TV has declined. It started out as apps crashing and sluggishness with the first update. The second update brought the inability to launch apps altogether.
have you tried the ADB app from the android store? it lets you uninstall a lot of the bloatware that comes with these sony tvs that the basic uninstall flow doesn't allow. i ran it on my XBR-49X900E and it really helped speed up some of the basic menu functions. i found that when google pushed their updates to the google tv store and shop (changing from "movies and tv" to whatever the heck it is now), these TVs don't handle it well at all.

obviously YMMV and be careful you don't delete a core android file.

I haven't. The AppleTV versions of the problematic apps have been working pretty well lately, so it hasn't been a priority. Also, I have a Roku Ultra as a backup. I doubt I will even connect my next TV to my home network with the way things are going.

The only reason I keep my LG TV connected to the Internet is because it pulls guide data for my over the air channels. If it weren't for that, I would have no reason to keep it connected. I had a chance to play with the UI on a new Google TV recently and I was not impressed. Plus I have a fundamental issue giving Google even more of my data!

Question about the plan I'm on- Paramount Plus +Showtime. Do I need to download the Showtime app on Roku and log in with my P+ credentials or is the Showtime content already a part of the P+ app?
