Paramount +

No idea, have mine set to Auto also for the audio.

It appears that the settings are different between audio and video. The video setting on auto sets the resolution to the highest the TV can possibly handle; for my living room TV that is 1080p. For audio, it just passes through the highest format your receiver or TV can handle.

I know, I took the show out of my list this afternoon, really have no interest in it, but it was still in continue watching, that is why is shows in my first photo, 38 min left.
That's not the home screen though, that is after you click on the show. If you highlight the show from the keep watching row, like you did from My List, the top of the screen will show it.

I didn't check to see if it was playing in 4k or not as I have my fire cube set to upscale since it does a great job with it. Since it's Dolby Vision, I don't know why they wouldn't have it in 4k.

Both Picard and Discovery are in 1080P Dolby Vision.

Why can't they just give you the correct info on All the screens ?
I wonder IF this will get fixed.

After seeing discussions like this here, on AVSForum, Reddit, etc. for various streaming apps on various platforms, I've decided it is a losing battle trying to determine what's what. Add in the fact that app and OS upgrades regularly break HDR/DV and Dolby Atmos support, it just isn't worth my time anymore. HDR is nice, but UHD is barely noticeable to my aging eyes, and 5.1 is the best I am ever going to get in my vaulted living room. Even SDR content looks great on my Sony 950H, so I just watch the shows/movies and enjoy the experience. Other parts of the user experience are more important to me, such as the speed of the UI and limiting of ads.

I agree with the last few posts. I mostly watch HD on bell fibe, except the news channels which are all in a row on SD. I do not see any difference when Tsn has sports in 4k. With starchoice years ago, there was a big difference between formats. I am 62 for reference.

Paramount+ gained 3.5 Million subscribers and their DTC operations has just turn profitable.

Adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) in Paramount’s streaming unit, known as its direct-to-consumer (DTC) segment, amounted to $49 million in the third quarter, compared with a year-ago loss of $238 million. DTC segment revenue rose 10 percent to $1.86 billion, driven by an 18 percent advertising gain and a 7 percent subscriber revenue increase. Paramount+ revenue even jumped 25 percent, “driven by year-over-year subscriber growth and average revenue per user (ARPU) expansion” of 11 percent.

Didn't renew my yearly sub last week. I don't watch CBS shows and there wasn't enough new stuff of interest to me that justified keeping it anymore. Will re-sub for a couple of months when Strange New Worlds returns and catch up on anything of interest that I might have missed.
Black Friday Deals are coming soon for Streaming Services, but I do not expect any more half off yearly deals, since P+ is now profitable and has 72 Million subs ( most are in the United States ), the deals will cut back, especially since there are only 131 Million Households here in the United States.

They will start offering more deals overseas, that is where growth will and needs to come from now.

By the way, Paramount+ now has about 20 Million more Subscribers than Cable/Satellite combined.

I have always posted this is the streaming service that could, really starting to prove it.

For anyone wanting to try out Paramount+, I figured out a trick to get you 37 days for free. First, sign up for the seven day free trial on the premium plan. Wait a day, then go in and hit cancel. It will then offer you an additional free month. Enjoy!

Same here. I tried to cancel a couple of months ago and they gave me 2 new months for free which ended this month and before I could cancel it again they already had a charge pending. So I cancelled it again for the end of this month. I only use it for Frazier and Star Trek series when its on. Everything else they have I can watch on TV.

They have a lot of good movies too.

... Glad that I got the $59.99 deal for 1 year of Paramount+ with Showtime. It has already paid for itself IMO and I have many months to go.
Hopefully, that offer comes along again this year.
I've done that deal for a few years now.
I find it well worth $60 ... I don't use it all that often, but I do use it.
For $120, I'd pass as well.

It is only $10 a month, Showtime alone used to be $15 when you subscribed via Cable/Satellite.

For that $10, you now get the majority of CBS and Showtime shows in 4K, along with P+ originals and movies, sports, like NFL, College Football and March Madness in 1080P, vs the bitrate starved 1080i of Cable/Satellite.

You also get all the other CBS content, that is not in 4K, in 1080P, also with your local CBS Live Channel.

Compared to that $150 you pay to DirecTV, where the majority of the programming is reruns or stuff you do not watch ( like the local RSN you have to pay a fee for you do not watch, as you have said).

Paramount+ is a bargain at that $10.

Wow, really ?
Were talking about Paramount Plus, were talking about CBS ... thats 1 channel
Why did you bring up D* at $150 ... that covers ALL my channels

I watch the same things on the channels that are on, doesn't matter if I watch them on Sat or Stream, I'm still watching the same things.

Now that the new seasons are coming into play, yes, I am watching the New episodes.
During the Off season, yes, reruns are there ...

You ALWAYS bring up Reruns .....
There are a Ton of people that watch Reruns.

When I have nothing of interest to watch, I'll often time turn on Me TV (Which is 100 % reruns) they are GREAT.

TBS, TNT, USA to name a few are also Reruns ....

The GARBAGE that is on these days, many don't like.

I for one Don't watch SURVIVOR or Any of those "REALITY" shows that have Nothing REAL about them.
They can take that Crap off and save alot of effort.

All the Dancing or singing shows or You've Got Talent is nothing other than Cheap TV for those that need to pass the time.

If I want to have D* Sat, that is MY choice, I pay for it.
I also do streaming .... I don't NEED it, i chose to have it, mainly because its there.

I don't really want to have to pay for 17 different networks to watch what I can get on one format.
I don't know how to come up with 17 different User names and passwords for each network I want to turn on, that I may use a time or two a month.

If I were to drop D* .... would I still be able to get all the stuff I currently get ?

Last time I logged on to one of my apps, it asked to log in and it required a TV verification, I told them I had D* and was allowed access, how would I have access to that without D* ?

They are making TV way to complicated .... :(

Btw, I have been paying $60 for the year, as you know for the last several years.
I use it occasionally, so I don't mind $60.
If they won't give me the deal again this year, so be it, I'll turn it off and probably turn it on for maybe a month thruout the year.

Was just using that as a example.

But if you really compare streaming services to Live TV.

I get the majority of new content from Broadcast/Cable Channels, plus the streaming content, in 4K/1080P for under $80 a month which includes HBO and Showtime.
I watch the same things on the channels that are on, doesn't matter if I watch them on Sat or Stream, I'm still watching the same things.
I would always go to the streaming version for the better video quality.

Why pay twice for the same thing, like CBS for example.
Now that the new seasons are coming into play, yes, I am watching the New episodes.

Yes they are, all content already paid for when it first aired.

But the majority of that rerun content is available free on the Pluto TV type services.
The GARBAGE that is on these days, many don't like.
There are many things on, that a lot of people do not like, for example, the only thing on NBC I watch is Football, not one scripted show.
I for one Don't watch SURVIVOR or Any of those "REALITY" shows that have Nothing REAL about them.

I also hate the fake reality shows.

I also do streaming .... I don't NEED it, i chose to have it, mainly because it’s there.
That is fine, I personally hate paying twice for the same content, specially when that content is available at a less expensive price and in much better quality.
I don't really want to have to pay for 17 different networks to watch what I can get on one format.
I don't know how to come up with 17 different User names and passwords for each network I want to turn on, that I may use a time or two a month.
Why 17?

I have one user name/one password for all of them, that is unique to the streaming services ( different then my banking), if a data breach for one of them, I change them all, but it is still just one.
If I were to drop D* .... would I still be able to get all the stuff I currently get ?
Without knowing the channels, hard to guess.
Last time I logged on to one of my apps, it asked to log in and it required a TV verification, I told them I had D* and was allowed access, how would I have access to that without D* ?
Without knowing the TV Everywhere app, again hard to answer.

But those are all going to be shut down within the next two years anyways, Fox, Disney, Paramount and Warner already shut down the majority of theirs.

ESPN will be shutting down Watch ESPN after the paid streaming service goes live next summer, Fox will be shutting down the Fox Sports app, after they figure out their new partnership with ESPN, but the VENU lawsuit has things stuck right now.
They are making TV way too complicated .... :(
I find it extremely easy.
Btw, I have been paying $60 for the year, as you know for the last several years.

If they won't give me the deal again this year, so be it, I'll turn it off and probably turn it on for maybe a month thruout the year.
I have the $60 deal also ( plus, pay with Gift Cards), but I see the value at $120 a year, $10 a month.
