I am currently looking to upgrade my current system to an hr 34 genie, but I have some questions on the install. a little background first. I currently have 2 HR24's and 2 H24's with whole home, and NO cinema connection. I have 2 RG6 Quad wires coming into the house from a pole mounted dish about 25 feet from my house. These wires are in a conduit. I want to replace the HR24 in the family room with the HR34 and move the HR24 downstairs to replace the h24. This will give me 9 tuners with the Genie, I believe. I also think that I need to bring 2 more wires into the house from the dish. And I think that this will require an upgrade of the LNB and must include a SWM-16. Am I correct on this, and is this something that I can request. I am not looking for a handout, and am expecting to pay a couple hundred dollars for this upgrade, but is it possible to try to get a deal on this? Is there something that I am missing? any reply is appreciated

You are right on all accounts, except the new lnb isn't really an upgrade, but a different model. What ever deal you get for the HR34 will include any necessary changes in your equipment. The deal will depend upon lots of criteria like length of service, payment history, etc.

Well lets see now, if your system works now, and all your doing is upgrading a receiver and sending back one. I have a swim 16 and a 9 tuner system as well. I only have 3 wires coming into the house.

One to my 1 st floor to a splitter, where the HR 34 is.
One to my second floor to another splitter where my HR23 and 2 h25's are.
One from my 2nd floor from Power inserter to swim 16. Thats it!

Other then the Power inserter I only have 2 wires coming in from the swim.
You also claim you have 2 HR24 and 2 H24s, so if your only dropping one H24, and adding HR34, thats 10 tuners.

The CCK doesn't require anything except a wire from one of your splitters to your DECA Broadband adapter, that connects ethernet to your router, I even think they have a wireless one of these as well now.

Bottom line, If your Swim 16 is Outside, 3 wires would be max required, maybe even 2 but without seeing how the current system is installed. Its hard to say whats required of your setup.

This makes 0 sense. You have to have 4 lines going to the 16. Also, if he has 2 HR24's and an HR34 this only equals 9 tuners. He needs 4 lines to a 16 then from the 16 he needs 2 2-way swm splitters, 1 on each "leg" of the 16.

Re Read It makes total sence. My Swim 16 is outside, ofcourse its going to have 4 lines from the dish to the swim, But thats not Inside, and it doesn't have to be.

Also he says he Has Currently 2 HR 24 and 2 H24, So is dropping Both H24s then? And Adding HR34 only?
From what I gathered, is only dropping 1 H24. well that leave an HR34,HR24,HR24,H24. Thats 10 tuners.

From the swim outside, I have 2 wires coming into the house, and one of these is connected to the end of each.

Update sorry, They left the downstairs splitter outside next to the swim 16. So I only Have 1 splitter inside .

Then I have 1 wire coming from in the house from this...http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.as...rter-for-SWM8-and-SWM16-(PI29Z)&c=Multiswitch Power Supplies&sku=

To back outside powering the swim 16

My system.

Picture 1 Clearly shows 2 wires leaving the Splitter,(One Goes to HR34 and other one HR23 in Bedroom 2) and one Leaving the Swim Right side to upstairs 3rd floor.
Picture 2 Shows the 2 wires going to 3 rd Floor from Splitter and Swim from outside. One from Swim goes to another splitter in Attic, and One from outside splitter goes Directly to the 2nd Bedroom TV
Picture 3 Shows Single wire in my attic going to another spliltter where it feeds Master Bedroom TV, and Bedroom Number 3. Also Power inserter is fed into splitter as well as the DECA system.

And Yes they grounded the crap out of it, But my house is 40 feet high, so I think he was worried about lightning.
Now they could have done this with only 2 wires, If everything I wanted was on a Single floor.

Are the holes in picture #2 sealed? They should be.

They are now. They weren't when the picture was taken, cause the installer had to do it from the insde out, He didn't have a 40 foot ladder with him..

I do, so I changed the siding there since and filled it.

As you can see above there was another hole that the dumb A$$ cable guy drilled in the wrong spot when doing my Internet.

Both have been fixed since.:)

See we live on the 2nd and 3rd floor, the 1st floor we rent out to a Local Tax and accounting office.

So anything we want starts at 10 feet up LOL. the Swim is about 9 feet off the ground.
