NHL 2011-12 Season

NHL Net is talking about Ric Nash possibly going to the Rangers .....
Do they have the players to make such a trade ?

This would be HUGE for them.

I've also heared others teams mentioned, but the Rangers seem to be the favorite so far.

Nobody has the players that will make this deal great for both sides. Any playoff contender would have to give to much in order to obtain him right now. If the CBJ are really interested in trading Nash they would be best to wait until after the playoffs as there would be much more demand for his services.

Plus how many teams have room under the cap for Nash?

As for having room, they can reorganize money thruout the team if they really have to.

The Rangers were the most talked about team looking to get him.

I would love to see the Wings get him, but like Jag mentioned, waiting till after the playoffs would get the best package for him.

Jimbo, Satjay, did you see Datsyuk score that goal with 5-seconds left to give the Wings their 22nd straight at home? Surprisingly, his steals are even more fun to watch than his highlight reel goals. Go Wings!

I did Datsyuk is so underrated!

Wings must be figuring with Mac playing as well as he is, to NOT rush Jimmy Howard back, they were hoping earlier in the week for him to start today.

Think the Wings are going to trade Ty Conklin? We certainly don't need him with Mac on the bench, but I don't know if he has much value on the trade market...

I think it really depends on Ty, if he wants to stick around and be helpful and possibly win a ring, OR, move on where he can get more playing time, but on a team thats probably not gonna win it all, but he gets playing time, even as a back up, then, ya, they'll trade him, provided theres a team out there wanting/needing his services.

I'm glad Ty was here, he's played well in the past, that said, I've seen Howard and Mac sit in the minors for MANY years more than most would, due to Detroit's desire to bring in a Top Goalie ahead of these guys, or hang on too long to the guys they had.

That said, hated to see Ozzie go ... is he still with the organization in any capacity ?

Yes Ozzie and Drapes are working for the Wings in the front office. I don 't know what they really do.
When I watch the wings home broadcast on CI those two do a commercial.

If Wings get by Vancouver on Thursday, they play Chicago at home in a week and after that the streak could go awhile.

I have a feeling the Canucks always give them a tough time ... well see.

OK, so Blue Jackets and Rangers last night. A goal was scored and the TV replay, using the game clock in the arena, showed that there was clearly 0.1 seconds left when the puck hit the back of the net.

They show that replay in the arena, the crowd goes nuts while the league video review office in Toronto is still deliberating. A minute later the referee states NO goal. Huh?

Turns out the clock in the video review booth is the official clock, and it differed by a couple of tenths of a second. How is that possible? The video review booth is in Toronto...how could their clock take precedence over the actual clock in the arena?

Strange.

This is the second game of the season for the Jackets where there was a clock controversy. The other game was in LA where the clock stopped for 1 second and then the Kings score to win the game with .4 seconds left on the clock. The league actually came out to say that the ruling of a goal was incorrect but then there was nothing they could do as the game was already over.

I was watching the game and it did look like a goal. They should somehow have the official game clocked at least linked to the TV feed that has the clock placed on the image.

On a side note it was amusing that the NY crowd chanted "We don't want you" when Nash scored to tie the game late in the 3rd. I would bet that most of the fans would welcome him with open arms if the Rangers actually traded for him.

LOL wasn't that hysterical? It's not that Ranger fans do not want Nash...quite the contrary, because he was one of the few Blue Jackets who played well last night.

Ranger fans have two very valid issues with trading for Nash. The first is what has been mentioned as the asking price...one of Dubinsky and also either Del Zotto or McDonagh, Chris Kreider (their first round draft pick from Boston College, a 6 foot 3, 230 pound center, and blazingly fast), AND a first round draft pick from this year.

I think not. Ranger fans have been waiting a long time to be in this position, where we are finally drafting well, and those draft picks are starting to pay dividends. We have the best record in the league and see no reason to make any changes that will significantly alter this team's makeup.

The other reason is Nash's salary...he has a $7.8 million per year cap hit for another seven years, including this one. That is just crazy for a team like the Rangers, who already have Gaborik, Lundqvist and Richards tie up to big contracts. So, trading for Nash would hurt their chances of signing guys like Del Zotto, Stepan, Hagelin, etc., to their next contract.

Nobody is doubting Nash is a very good player...he's just not worh that kind of cap hit for six more years after this one. The correct chant would be... WE DON'T WANT YOUR CONTRACT.

We also have to wonder if the Rangers is on Nash's short list of teams to be traded to. If he has no interest in the Rangers then the trade discussions don't mean anything as he will just veto the trade. There is supposed to be a listing of around 3-4 teams that Nash has said that he would not block the trade.

New York reporters are saying the Rangers are one of the teams he would waive his veto for. Hopefully it never comes to that.

Of couse they are. ;) Truth is that the list has not been leaked out at all and is being held close within the Blue Jacket organization and is only known by a select few.
