NHL 2011-12 Season

They are currently only on a 1 game streak if you don't include shoot outs. Before that shoot out they only had 2 wins since the last shoot out victory.

Your right, I keep forgetting about the stupid SO situation, I really hate the screwed up standings and SO all together.

Tonights the big night for the Red Wings, though they're not talking much about it.

They go for Home win # 21 tonight against then Stars at 7:30.

In this somewhat tainted streak, tainted as in SO's wins count.
For those saying that SO's should not count as a win, you have to remember that they have the same chance of losing in a SO as winning.

I would rather lose in a game in regulation, than in a skills competition, ala the SO.

For those that can't get it and would like to see it, D* has the Centre Ice package on Free this week.
Haven't checked yet, but wouldn't surprise me to see it available on VS or NHL Net covering it at least.

edit:
A quick glance at the program guide, doesn't show this game on either network at this time.

Its not tainted, just different. It is still one hell of an accomplishment. Don't forget that the one around here that is saying it is different has actually been a Wings fan all his life. Just choose to start routing for the sucky Blue Jackets once they came to town. I still have a spot for the Wings in my heart since they were my team from day one.

I think injuries will tell the tale and how well they play thru them ....
No teams are truly injury free, hockey players just play thru it more than alot of other sports.

I gotta love the Playoff injury reports, Upper Body Injury or a Lower Body Injury .... thats it !

Actually the NHL is allowing teams to go this route in the regular season too. Some teams elaborate more on injuries and some don't...

Oh, believe me, I've been a Wings fan for along long time as well..... although not as diehard as I use to be.

Lost interest for awhile when the Captain retired, alszo my buddy I use to go to games with passed away.

Big news in Columbus is that they are starting to take trade offers for Rick Nash. I will be disappointed if this actually happens as he has been great for the city.

He has not requested a trade but the club may have decided that they need to move on. He has stated that he would like to stay with the CBJ but would waive his no trade clause if the team thinks it is in their best interest.

I would LOVE to see the Red Wings pick him up ...
I have always like Nash.

Wings have plenty of prospects, and on a positive note, generally Wings prospects end up playing in the NHL.

Thank you Blue Jackets for beating the Blues tonight !

The CBJ game tonight was great. Wiz scored at the end of the first period with only .1 seconds left on the clock. Talk about cutting it close. Lots of action and Nash was playing tonight with an attitude. I thought he was going to get into a fight or two tonight.

Wife and I had a great time at the game as we were given some really good seats. I was saved by the tickets as I had sold our regular seats and then the wife stated she wanted to go to this game the day after the tickets sold. Thank you CBJ for the free tickets to the game and saving my butt on valentines day. :D

21st straight home win for the Wings tonight. I wonder how far they will take this current streak?

Well they have Nashville, San Jose, Vancouver and Colorado before the end of the month.

I think Vancouver will be a very tough game and San Jose is always a tough one as well.

Way to go wings, a bit sad as with the wings we tend to take all the good for granted because of the 20 year run or so they have had

Way to go Wings! I hope that I never take the Wings for granted. I bitterly remember growing-up during the "Dead Wings" era and listening to my elders talk about the glory days of Howe, Abel, Lindsey, Sawchuck, etc. At least we have a solid foundation for when Lidstrom retires...Pavel will make an excellent Team Captain.

Anyway, I would love to pick-up Shane Doan before the trading deadline! Think the Coyotes will let him play for a contender? Or will they keep him around like the Lions did with Barry Sanders?

We must be about the same age ....

I would see Z becoming a Captain before Pavel

As for Doan, isn't he like mid 30's already ?

Edit:
Just checked, he's 35 as I thought.
Personally, I'll pass.

Actually, I would not mind the Rangers picking up Doan at the deadline. Extremely feisty guy, he would fit in perfectly on the hard working Rangers.

Because you're only picking him up for the rest of the season, his age would not matter so much. He's still playing good hockey right now.

He's a UFA at the end of the season, so you're only responsible for a small portion of his salary and cap hit for the rest of this season.

I say do it...but I don't want to see the Rangers give up any of their young talent. Doan should not cost much in assets.

The Wings have some cap money, Doan is getting up in age (and probably extremely focused on wanting to play for a legitimate contender), he's a pain-in-the-arse to play against but would fit in and play well with the Wings. Plus, we could sign him to a one or two year contract. I think he Doan would be a great pickup.

Good points Sandra ...

Maybe the Wings will look into him.

48...but knees feel like they're 88. :(

Two years ago I would have agreed. Nowadays, whenever I hear a blurb for an upcoming Wings game on NBCSN or NHLNet it always starts with, "Pavel Datsyuk and the Detroit Red Wings...(come to town, host the, etc.)." Given the choice between Datsyuk and Zetterberg (both are Alternate Captains), I think the Wings go with Pavel.

As for Doan, isn't he like mid 30's already ?

Oh, smite me for my silly suggestion and then praise Sandra for her keen insight. ;) :D
