NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Actually the raiders filed a grievance after he was released to get like 9 mil of his bonus money back. This incident helps their cause, but if they have no previous violations of corrective action to show his release was due to cause or something they really don't have a case.

You can't get a refund because a player sucked.

Otherwise, yeah I think they still have to pay him like 3 mil this year.

Per Schefter...

Jets reached agreement with OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson on a six-year, $60 million extension that includes $34.8 million in gtd money.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson's had two years remaining. He now is under contract to the Jets for eight years and $73.6 million.

It would be interesting to know what Jets CB Darrelle Revis, C Nick Mangold and LB David Harris are thinking right about now.

They will get thiers too.

The Jets have seemed to done things the right way in the past 5 years or so.

But the NFL has a cap and if they commit too much money to one or a few guys, they won't be able to keep everyone happy.

Steeler's sign Coach Tomlin to 3 year extension

Report: Steelers extend Tomlin's deal

Mike Tomlin erased any doubts he could follow in the footsteps of Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher when he led the Steelers to a Super Bowl victory in his second year. Now, Pittsburgh has reportedly rewarded the coach with a three-year contract extension, despite a playoff-free 2009 season.

The Steelers have agreed to a three-year extension with Tomlin, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday. The newspaper reported that financial terms were unknown at this time.

The Post-Gazette reported that Steelers president Art Rooney, who negotiated Tomlin's extension, is on vacation and couldn't be reached for comment.

Tomlin's current contract, which averaged $2.5 million annually, had one season an option year left on it.

In 2009, the Steelers finished 9-7, losing five in a row and missing the playoffs a season after winning the Super Bowl -- the first champion to do so since the Steelers themselves in 2006.

The Steelers have had just three coaches in the last 41 years: Noll (23 seasons and four Super Bowl victories), Cowher (15 seasons and one Super Bowl win) and Tomlin (three seasons and one Super Bowl win).

The 38-year-old Tomlin has a 31-17 record in three seasons as the Steelers' coach.

The UFL's Omaha Nighthawks currently list Jamarcus Russell on their roster, along with other former Raiders WR Ronald Curry and RB Justin Fargas.

Nothing confirmed yet, but he's been linked to the Nighthawks already and his camp denied any interest in playing in the UFL.

Edit: It's been confirmed, he's not on the team, just on the team's protected list. I believe the same goes for Fargas as well.

Jamarcus hasn't joined the UFL, yet | ProFootballTalk.com

Technically , doesn't that just make it so no other UFL teams can sign him ?

Yes, if he goes to the UFL, he'll be joining Curry and Green at the Nighthawks.

Then Omaha vs Sacramento would be the battle of the former Raider QBs... Russell v Culpepper.

If he signs with the UFL, he wont be available to be signed by a NFL team until after the championship game on Thanksgiving.

Edit: The UFL has clarified what their site rosters actually represent:

http://uflaccess.com/united-football-league/ufl-pr-provisional-rosters-explained/

- 20 players who were either protected by teams from the 2009 season or in the case of the Omaha Nighthawks selected in an expansion draft.

· 12 players selected in the 2010 UFL Draft held on June 2, 2010.

· Free agents who are not signed to any other professional team's roster.

Potential free agents are assigned/drafted to teams even if they're active NFL players, that's the only way that comes even close to make sense.
